Default Rubber refurbishing?

Has anyone ever used the Wurth Rubber Care? I'm looking for a product to cleanup and do whatever revitalizing I can do with the rubber on my 82 before I reinstall it after repaint.

I've used MOther's Back to Black, but am wondering if there is something better out there. If you have anything that you feel is successful - satin black and long lasting - can you post it?

Thanks
Rod

we used some stuff from Dow Corning called 111 it is a silicone paste good for rubber it helps for installing the door window seals and i always smear some on the top of the seal after its in it keeps it from drying out and cracking, also used this stuff in the rear hach seal channel to prevent water leaking I used a syringe to inject it into the channel

I have used 3M Rubber Treatment and Tire Dressing, part no. 051131. Wipe it on and rub it in and then wipe it off for a satin finish. It lasts for a few weeks. Then another application is needed to cleanse the surface, unless you keep the car indoors or covered. It is also useful on tire sidewalls after washing the grime off. I buy it through the mail from 3M because no one carries it in the local stores. Good for concours use, because the rubber appears non-greasy and original.

no experience, I just read about this somewhere else:

Claims to restore, which is what your looking for. I"m going to give it a try. There's also "Forever Black" (I found it at Bavarian Auto) which is supposed to "re-color" black rubber and plastic. Again, not tried, but it's on my list.

I have used "Forever black" and it does work and holds up well (over two years) before a recoat is needed.

Have you ever used the "Forever Black" for a comparison?

What is the "Forever Black" finish like? Gloss, Stain, Flat?

Griots makes a good vinyl/rubber protectant as does 303 Aerospace. BMW also makes a good product from what I've heard although I've never used it.

I like Adams "VRT"....nice satin finish with UV protectors...but it doesn't help restore much...its mostly a maintainer......

There are a couple different dyes out there...but I don't have much experience with them

"Forever black" is a stain finish, you can put a protectant over top after it dries if you want gloss. Don't get it on your paint or hands it's a bitch to get off!

Well, after all of the advise here and some research, I bought a quart of the Forever Black today. I'm going to redo all of the rubber with it to refresh the black before I put it back in and then use my old faithful Back to Black from Mothers to keep it fresh.

Thanks to everyone and I'll be sure to wear some nice latex gloves when I use it.

I'll let you know in a few months how it holds up.

Rod
