Ignition Stalk Mystery Connector
During my recent pod removal activities ('85 928S Euro) I noticed a small diconnected plug on the aluminum casting extension for the ignition switch. The connector is about 1/4" wide x 1/2" long and has 2 contacts on it. The matching plug on the wiring harness is black with 2 wires connected to each terminal (total of 4 wires: 2x red/black stripe and 2x black/red stripe). There is a small white plastic "base" that snaps to the ignition housing terminal and the black plug clips to this white base.
The white base was connected to the black plug, but nither was snapped to the ignition housing. Looks like it has been this way for some time...the car seems to work fine without it connected. I have reconnected it, but cannot verify everything is working until the pod rehab is complete. Sould be able to do so in about a week.
For now I would like to know what this connector is. I have been scouring the wiring diagrams for a couple of days now and cannot seem to find anything that references this connector. Anyone now what it is...and why it might have been disconnected? I suspect it is part of the alarm system, but cannot find any reference to it on the alarm wiring diagram.
