Question mity vac price??

Greetings,

I am preparing to do all the vacuum lines in the engine compartment on my '83S euro. Do I need to get a "Mity Vac" unit and if so, what should I expect to pay for it?

TIA <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/beerchug.gif" />

The Mity Vac is a "must-have". I got mine from my local AutoZone for about $25.

Thanks Scott,

I checked with local auto parts stores and could not find anything for less than $45.00 and there seem to be lots of variations. What did you buy for 25.00 and what do I need?

TIA <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/beerchug.gif" />

I payed about $30 for one from Auto Zone just a couple of weeks ago. It comes with all the hoses and attachments. Fairly self explanatory.

My AutoZone had only one and it was hanging in the tools section. I think the packaging referred to it as a hand vacuum pump. It can also be used as a brake bleeder so you may find it near other brake system repair tools. I didn't realize that it was a Mity Vac brand until I got it home.

You can order it online at <a href="http://www.autozone.com" target="_blank">AutoZone</a>. Do a search for "Mity Vac pump".

The cheaper one is made of plastic, which I'm told is adequate. Tool Warehouse has the metal one (MIT 4000) for $43. Check the website:
<a href="http://www.mityvac.com" target="_blank">www.mityvac.com</a> for model variations.

Thumbs up

Thanks for the help guys.

I ended up getting a metal one that was part of a kit. Cost $53. More that I was hoping to spend, but it was available and so rather than keep looking to save the extra $$ I just went ahead and bought it.

Now the real work begins..... <img border="0" alt="[ouch]" title="" src="graemlins/c.gif" />
