Slave cylinder Question
Earlier, Wally gave these instructions to a problem involving bleeding the slave, and a lister whose clutch want to the floor: "Bleed it [slave] normally, then unbolt the slave - don't loosen the line - and push the operating rod all the way in. Remount, and re-bleed." During tbelt replacement, I had to unhook the line in order to remove the slave. I bled it, but I still have pedal to the floor. Just so I understand this, is the piston now extended and needs to be pushed back toward the front of the engine? Will this force any fluid back to the master? The reason I ask is my master is at max line now and I'm thinking I should turkey baster some fluid out of the master. Thanks. I should add, the first time I powered up after the belt job, with all those sensor lights staring back at me, I was a little cowed, I wasn't really worried about the belt because I took so much time checking and rechecking, but with so many lights I wondered how all of this gadgetry could suddenly work again, she hesitated a moment and then-- what a wonderful sound. <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/beerchug.gif" />
SteveG,
Open the bleeder on the slave when you push the operating rod in and you won't have to remove any fluid out of the master. It may get rid of any trapped air also.
