They are almost, but not quite that shiny.

Yeah, hard to tell, hmmmm....

Well, I've contacted the wheel folks below and if the price is right, I'll post pics after I get mine refurbed.

Here's the quote from Wheel Enhancement:

If we have a set to do on exchange it would cost $900.00 if your wheels are straight true and refinishable.

I think I'll try doing them myself with Wurth and save $850.

$900 to refinish wheels that aren't scuffed or bent is a rip-off. You could have them stripped and powder coated with new center caps for less.

Only forged wheels were annodized. The slotted and club sport wheels yes; but the cast phone dials and later GTS cup 1 and 2 wheels were a painted finish. Anything cast is painted.
If you don't have paint, then someone must have stripped them at some time.

If I am wrong, please someone correct me on this.

Hey Jon, I found this in the options code index on the 928 Registry site. Looks like you could get wheels forged or anodized:

395 Forged Wheels Silver Colored Anodized, Rim 7 x16 , Tire 225/50VR-16
395 Light Metal Rims - Forged
400 Cast Aluminum Wheel, Club Sport (Design 90), 7.5 x16 front, 9 x 16 rear
401 Wheel - Cast Aluminum Alloy, Telephone Design, Rim 7 x16 , Tire 225/50VR-16
403 Cast Aluminum Wheel, "Cup" 7.5 x17 front, 9 x 17 rear

AFAIK, anything aluminum, whether forged or cast, can be anodized, which is an electro-chemical process, and takes on the texture of the aluminum. If the metal has been polished, the anodized end-product will be polished; if the casting has been left matte, then the end-product will be matte.
