Let me know the dates. maybe if enough of interest is drawn, and enough sharks want to show up, we can get a pig roast. I know of a few guys that come out, cook it, cut it, and serve it. Not too expensive, makes for an easy way to eat.

5/16/03 UPDATE

Since the Kensington Park does not have an available pavilion, I have reserved one at another park...the Dexter-Huron park:

THE NEW DATE FOR THIS EVENT IS JULY 11-13. THE PICNIC AND FUN DRIVE WILL BE HELD ON JULY 12

It will cost us $100 for the pavilion, so I'm going to ask that each person/family attending kick in $5 or $10 so that we can cover the pavilion cost and try to pick up hot dogs and beverages.

I will post information on nearby hotels hopefully soon.

I was out there yesterday scoping out possible locations. I think this will be a great location. There are a number of twisty roads (by Michigan standards) that follow the Huron River. There are also a number of long sweeping turns and a couple of off camber curves that should make it pretty fun.

I will see if I can come up with a course that will give us a nice drive. I will even see if I can borrow a video camera and post a preview of the roads.

Dave- Do you know if the $100 includes the enterance fee? Otherwise, I believe there is a $4 daily fee per car.

Should be a FUN event. We should also plan a couple of other mini-events on the adjacent days. Any thoughts?

The $100 is only for the pavilion. Each car will be charged a separate $4 fee to gain entrance to the park.

In case anyone is wondering about bringing their families, I'm planning on doing so. The park has a variety of fun things to do.

I think Friday would be a good time to have people gather at the hotel (whichever it is, if it has a bar or restaurant) or a very nearby restaurant. That makes it easy for people to just show up whenever they can for those out-of-towners in attendance.

I'm open to ideas about what to do, if anything, on Sunday.

Can I get some feedback, is hot dogs and hamburgers preferred, or a pig roast?

The video camera is an excellent idea, Might want to ask Ell when he gets back for his. He even made a camera stand in his shark so it records when he is driving.

Good location! Kensington is just down the street from where I work, but Dexter-Huron is closer to home. There are some nice stretches of road - North Territorial towards M-52 comes to mind.

BTW I'm pretty sure July 11 is the date for "Rolling Sculpture" (Ann Arbor's downtown car show) so everyhing near Main St will be jammed. But it's something else people might be interested in doing.

I got my car back together yesterday (replaced the odometer gear), so I'll be at Milan Thursday, but just to watch - my t-belt is 6 years old and I'm taking it easy until it gets replaced. I'd be happy to contribute toward the $100 if I see you there.

I would recommend Thursday at the track we can discuss some items or perhaps we can meet Friday or Saturday. If you want to come to my house I can fire up the grill.
