At 168 that car would need every imaginable plastic or rubber item on the car replaced. Bushings, electrical plugs, shocks, springs, clutch parts, TT bearings, synchros, brake lines, caliper seals, engine seals, injectors, fuel lines, rod bearings, valve seals, valve guides, etc.

Nope that one was nice but not quite divorce material...

For me to send the wife packing over a 928 it gonna have to be a 5sp not an auto.

The interior and exterior is going to have to be near perfect as well. Cuz I'm gonna end up sleeping in the thing....

Totally agree! The car has been for sale a while and was on autotrader last I knew.

Aren't many of those parts going to need replacement on any 928 just from age?

And don't most say, high mileage is not a problem for a 928?

I just turned 160,000 on mine and it drives as good as any. And to look under the hood or carrage you would never know.

I have an opinion Stan, and I usually get silence when I say it, but the truth hurts. The 928 is just like any other car, though very well built, it still is not un-wearable. Wear items include the things that I mentioned, and alot of 928 people, I think, believe that because it works well as it is at 100k, there is no need to replace things like springs, shocks, seals, brake seals. Shocks are like a 60k replacement or rebuild time frame. And because many get out of thier SUVS and into the 928, it SEEMS like its great, when in reality, its wallowing around relative to other sports cars.

This is not a popular opinion I keep.

I agree but people that know the cars know they can go. The mileage thing is a state on mind. its what is beaten into our heads when we trade, lease, whatever so yes I do agree, high milage will hurt resale value. But what else are you going to do when a new one is not an option? At what year do you have to kinda change your mindset about mileage? If that car went through a PM with reasonable results I would not hesitate to buy it.

I don't change my mindset, I change the shocks, springs, rubber, ball joints, brake caliper seals, rod bearings, oil seals, synchros, and many other things and then the car will drive like new. I have done much of this on two separate cars, and it drives like new, far from what many 928s I have driven felt like. I refuse to drive a car that is impaired.

Wear is wear miles are miles! The more miles the more wear. I have driven high mileage Porsches than hoped in a the seat of a low mileage one, completely different animals. I don't care what car it is, nothing lasts forever!!
