Day 11
Finis

Elkview W Va is more of a stop than a town. But it is a perfect stop, with a first class hotel, a Kmart (for supplies), a manual car wash, auto parts store and restaurants all within 200 yards of each other. We clean up the "S" so that my wife won't ask for a refund and a 4000 mile trip back across the continent and head on our way. Pressing northward takes us to Morgantown and we cross into Maryland. We pass through the luscious country side around Frostberg and Cumberland. We jump onto to HWY 70 for 90 minutes. We detour onto HWY 32 which takes us into Eldersburg. We take the familiar turn onto our street and up the drive. My wife who has not until now seen the "S" is all smiles (YES!). We're home. Cheers everyone!

Oh; time for credits:
Thanks to:
Dan (the PO): for doing good work on the car.

Susan (Devek): for 1) the PPI, 2) the pre-trip repairs, 3) storage, 4) last minute tweaks and adjustments, 5) picking son and I up at the airport, etc....

928INTL staff ((Jim and others): for patiently taking several calls of the type "I just bought my first 928 and I'm immediately driving it across the country. How do you check/fix such-and-such?"

Default Big Oversight

More credits deserved:

Thanks for suggestions and offers of support. I made most postings (including todays) very late at night and impatient for sleep. I didn't have much time time to respond to the very appreciated well wishes and advise. Here's trying to make amends.....

Charley: Yes I found the reistat where you described. I finally had had instr lights !

Bill: I was far less paranoid after the temp advise that you gave.

Will (and others): Thanks for the offers of help and support.

Great thread, sounds like you had a good trip considering a new to you car combined with a lot of miles and not enough time to enjoy the ride.

Great thread! Not only will you be hooked for the remainder of your days on the 928 because of such an enriching trip and great memories in that car with your son, but your son will someday desire his own 928 for the same, nostalgic reasons! Way to go!
