Default First Aid Kits

Who got one with their car and were they complete kits or partials? Kits came with both our Euros, but not the US and I'm curious if the US was just missing it, or if only the Euros came with them. One of our kits is complete, with three plastic bags of supplies and a first aid instruction book in German (good thing we know enough first aid without having to read up!), and the box is in great shape. The other is missing two of the plastic bags and the book, though the remaining bag seems complete compared to the full box. The box is in fair to so so shape. Not shredded by any means, but not perfect.

Do these things have any value? Should we bother to save them, if we're not going to restore our cars to stock?

I'm curious about what people do with them, if anything.

Although it seems unlikely that a 23 adhesive bandage would still be sticky, you could tear one open and find out. As long as the packaging is intact, they should be sterile, so you could use 'em if needed.

I'd think, however, that buying a modern first aid kit to carry, and saving the original for show purposes only, would be the way to go.

I've been under the impression that the first aid kits came with Euro's only, being that the spot they occupy (at least on mine) is where the LH brain would be. I am also under the impression that they are something thats a bit rare if an original survivor, so perhaps slightly valuable. more so when our cars become valuable to people other than us.

Hey Animal, Really? Your LH brain is in your rear console? Cuz that's where both of our kits were, and the rear console is perfectly sized to hold them, and of course these cars are both LH too. But our LH computers are behind the little foot stop or whatever that is in the passenger foot well, next to the fuse panel. Now I'm more curious about your car! What gives?

Just went through my kit. The tape was used at on point, but very little & one bag may be missing 1 or 2 items, I'm not sure.

Hey BigRob, you're welcome again for the sunroof guide. Real glad that worked out for you!

Another question for you and others. Did your kit come with a booklet that has a list of the contents in German/English on the back? Ours does, but the list is a sticker that seems to cover just German writing. It also has what appears to be a publishing date at the bottom of the sticker that says "Hans Hepp, 2000 Schenefeld/Hamburg." I can't figure that out, being that the car is from 1984. What gives with that? Does that mean the kit is not original to the car? Or maybe that the booklet was replaced later? The booklet is absolutely pristine, clean and undogeared. Could have been printed yesterday, from all appearances.

Hey, just saw your second post. What are you missing? Maybe my partial has the missing pieces. You could have 'em if you wanted to complete it.

Just for the heck of it, here's the list, exactly as it appears on the back of my booklet (i.e., all the dashes and codes are just the way I show them here), in case anyone is interested.

1 Adhesive tape, A 5 x 2,5, to DIN specification 13 019
1 Bandage, E 50 x 6, to DIN specification 13 019
3 Bandages, E 10 x 6, to DIN specification 13 019
1 Field-dressing, G DIN 13 151
3 Field-dressings, M DIN 13 151
1 Scald-bandaging-cloth, A DIN 13 152
3 Field-dressings for burns, BR DIN 13 153
6 Muslin-bandages, MB 20-8, to DIN 61 631-ZW/Bw
3 Muslin-bandages MB 20-6, to DIN 61 631-ZW/Bw
1 Package containing 5 cellulose-mould-compresses with bilateral mould-tarnish, 100 mm x 100 mm, single packed, sterilized
5 Triangle-cloths, 96 x 96 x 136 cm, DIN 13 168, white, single packed
1 Pair of bandage-scissors, 140 mm long
12 Safety-pins, B 50 DIN 7404
1 Booklet giving First Aid instructions
1 Specification of contents
1 Piece of white chalk

That last item has my hubby and I trying to figure out what the heck it's for. Maybe to outline any bodies on the ground?

And why would anyone want to put mould anything on an injury??

Mine has a list in German, English, & French on the inside of the cover flap. There is a sticker on the front outside that has a cross & says" Inhalt DIN 13164" The back of the booklet has the sticker u speak of with contents in only German & English, & the " Hans Hepp, 2000 Schenefeld/Hamburg". I looks like all the booklet is written in Greman.

Well, it sounds like you have exactly the same book. But that is so weird with the 2000 date on it! I just can't figure that out...

We don't have any German/French/English anything on the inside cover flap. Do you mean inside the book, or inside the box? We do have the same gold labels on the fronts that you mention too. I wonder if one of our German speaking friends here can enlighten us on some of the more esoteric markings mean, such as what DN and DIN stand for, and what the ZW/Bw means in the two lines with the Muslin bandages.

6 Muslin-bandages, MB 20-8, to DIN 61 631-ZW/Bw
3 Muslin-bandages MB 20-6, to DIN 61 631-ZW/Bw

Oh and Chaad, oddly none of these items seem have any sticky stuff, except for maybe the tape roll. There aren't any band aid type bandages, just muslin and gauze and some are made of 60% Viskose and 40% baumwolle, which I'm guessing is wool?

It's all very mysterious!

I'm not too worried about the items I am missing, but thank you! Maybe the 2000 is'nt a year at all..........or........if it is, it may be an expiration!? After all, you & I have the same year ride!! It would make sense that our expiration would be the same!

"Hans Hepp, 2000 Schenenfeld/Hamburg" looks like an address, as in "2000 Schenenfeld St."

yeah, mine is where your LH brains are... weird... the pocket is fitted to it too. K jet has an empty space there, so guess they put the first aid kit to fill it till the LH came and bumped it to the back. perhaps its a bit more useful upfront too.

All my Euros have FA kits.
The early cars has the kit where the brains are on later cars.
They were also moved to the rear center console.
