Question Do Engine Sensors Reguire Ground???

Sharks:

I am painting intake manifolds and housings on top of the engine. Most sensors up there have 2 prongs. Do I need to remove the paint at the place on the manifold where the sensors screw down to provide grounds?

Depending on which sensors (ie. engine temp, most sensors work on resistance from a bi-metallic strip, thus not requiring a ground.

Thanks Mike,

Makes sense. Do no 2 pronged sensors need grounds. The Timing Belt Tension Sensor has only one lead going to a carrier, and comes on when the ground is absent.
