Question Rad Antifreeze Leak

Recently came back from holidays and discovered a pool of antifreeze on my garage floor (I had taken the car out for a long spin before leaving). It seemed to be located on the passenger side of the engine. Refilled systems (4.0L) and ran car till eletric fan kicked in. All I can find is a drip coming off the left front of the oil pan but can't pin point where the sources is. Hose anb hose connection good.Could it be a leaky water pump? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

It sure sounds like a waterpump Garth, though they typically leak worse when the car is running. A leaking waterpump is usually manifested as a coolant leak off the front of the oil pan.

If it is indeed the WP, the sooner you have it (and the timing belt) replaced the better. Otherwise, the coolant will begin to contaminate and seize up the bearings within the timing belt rollers.

Randy,

That is good to know. I imagine that many people do not realize that anti-freeze can ruin bearings. Most people know that they should replace all roller bearings on the front of the engine while they are exposed. This information provides more incentive to do so.
