Optima is the brand. They go for $180 at Summit, each. UPS won't take batteries from individuals, especially open ones, so can't ship them. Anyway, they weigh considerably more than the average battery. That would be pricey shipping.
A little more info on the batteries. 1000 cranking amps, 800 cold cranking amps. Group 34.

Can't deal with shipping a TT, it's way too heavy and too long for us to handle.

If someone were to insist on our shipping the shock/spring assemblies, I suppose we might be able to handle that, but it would add considerably to the price.

In short, it's just easiest to handle a local sale. Sorry, Heinrich!

One more note, the batteries would require intalling a longer positive battery cable, or an easier solution, Carl at 928 Motorsports sells battery terminals that can be disconnected. If those were installed they would reach without the longer positive battery cables. The stock cable is about 2 inches too short to make the stretch.

The batteries would also require an aftermarket battery hold down.

Are you sure they're not OPTIMA? If so I'd like to buy them from you

Heinrich, you must have popped into my post in the 6 seconds between when I posted my response and then went directly back and edited Red Top to Optima. Fastest click in the west!!

I don't know what to say...I guess we could TRY to ship them. It occurs to me that UPS doesn't really ask what you have in your box...but we don't have the original packaging for them anymore. It might be risky.

As for the battery cable issue, that was the situation in our old 84 US and our 84 US (whoops, Edit: 84 Euro), but I don't know if it would be the same for other models. YMMV.

We can't use them because we bought them not realizing that they would not be adequate for powering our 1000 watt stereo in addition to the supercharger system, with all the extra electric fans and pumps, and the intercooler. We needed the Yellow Tops.

Ok, Heinrich. This much I can tell you. One of Carl's superchargers, with attached mounting bracket, weighs 24 pounds. It costs $37 to ship from NJ to Wisconsin.

The batteries MUST weigh more than twice that. I could carry the supercharger long distances, if I had to, without too much difficulty. I can barely lift one of these batteries off the ground, let alone get it from one room to the next.

If the shipping were going to be as much as, or more than the $50 we want for each one, would that make you say "not worth it"?

Right. Which was pretty much our take on the situation, as well.

Heck, you can buy one new from Summit for $180, and they have flat shipping of around $10 an order, if I recall correctly. Get one new one for the price of both of ours, shipped? I wouldn't do it either.

I know! We paid less for them ourselves...but that is what they are going for today, believe it or not.

I'll take a battery. What condition is the torque tube?

I'll be in NJ around the 4th of July.

The TT is in decent shape...it has 94468 miles on it. It wasn't making any noise when we pulled it from the white 84 US last July. That's about all I can say for it.

Which battery would you want, new or used?

By the way, we do also have a couple of slightly more used stock Interstate batteries laying around. $25 each for those.

We'll look forward to seeing you around the 4th.

Pics of the shock/spring assemblies will be posted tomorrow.

Probably a used one unless the date on it is much older than the new one.
