Question Trip Meter/Odometer

Never understood why the trip meter reset had to be electrical in the 928 requiring the key to be on for reset but ... does the operation of the same depend up an electrical component. Reset mine Saturday and it, along with the odometer, haven't moved since! Speedometer is fine. Anyone have a suggestion as to what I might look for this weekend as check under the dash?

Unhappy

You reset your odometer while moving from time to time didn't you!!??

The little plastic gear has chewed itself up and it's time for a rebuild!! For future reference...you shouldn't reset your odometer when you're moving!!

Sorry to bring you the bad news!!

Pat,
Alas, fast928 is correct. Either you or previous owner did the deed as did most of us. Never heard about the key relationship maybe Ed or Wally could handle that one.
There should be a post in the last 5 pages
with a reference to 2 rebuild outfits. Check the archives at 928 owners Club as well as I recall there was an identical reference to the same two outfits.
Keep em' rolling.
