Post Headlight Vertical Aim Mechanism

In regards to the 928, how does the Headlight Vertical Aim Mechanism function as mine is not at this point?

The story so far:
I have traced the piping from the headlights to the controls at the drivers seat and cannot see how a positive pressure is applied to allow the headlights angle to be changed. When compressed air is applied to the lines directly at the front of the vehicle, the lights do change angle.

Are these lines supposed to contain air or oil and how is the pressure generated to allow the flow of this air/oil?

Thanks in advance...

Steve,
Air? OIL?

My 82' is not equipped with the adjuster switch. But my owners manual lists the headlight controls with explanations, and position diagram on pages 21, 40, 80, and 81. To save a long post; do you have the owners manual and if so did you go by the instructions? If not, I'll send you another post out of the manual and browse the archives for additional info.
Being 'blind'to how this system works I'd still be willing to say a air/oil charged system would have to something only a group of dope smoking engineer's in the middle of the dreaded DEEP THOUGHT portion of the BUZZ could or would come up with!

Assuming you are working on a Euro car;
the system is filled with fluid, the switch is
like the brake master and the adjusters like
the calipers, turn the switch and it pushes
the fluid out to adjust the lights, turn it
back and the fluid takes up back in the switch and the lights return.

Jim,
So they really were smoking dope?
The switch is like a flapper piston of some kind? Is this in one of the Pubs?
thanx

Not sure what is in the switch to push the fluid but it is a small hydraulic circuit and
will change headlight angle 3 degrees down.
The pupose of the system was for the super-
bright H-4 lights; when the car was loaded
up with luggage the lights would blind the
on-coming traffic, so the adjustment let the
driver bring them down to normal level.

Jim and Steve,

Now I know they were stoned!
Think of the money Porsche could have made.
Stick a very expensive front and rear airpad/shock system on a 928, incorporate a integral compressor instead of a puny easy
to service switch controlled headlight adjuster system.
And the justification would of course be none other than Korectt balance and presision handling. Say! you have'nt seen a
928 low rider have you... joking.
Those guy's must have been pretty busy stamping out fires and coming up with quick fixes. Got to give them credit it's not tied into the brain! I need to take that system apart.
