Pet 6 Install: Screen Resolution 1280 x1024?
Hey guys,
I'm trying to install the Pet 6 on my laptop, but its giving me an error message upon install that says I must have a screen resolution of at least 1280 x 1024.
When I go to change my settings, my max is 1440 x 900, and there is no option to change it to 1280 x 1024 (or greater).
I can't find any info in the help files about this, but I'm wondering if its due to my laptops screen size, its a wider screen then a standard laptop (Dell Inspiron E1505 running Win XP).
Does anybody have any tips on how to get the install to run, or how to change the screen resolution to 1280 x 1024 when my laptop does not show that configuration?
Thanks,
Ed

this is correct it must be this higher setting. Your vid card must not support this setting. I know mine barly does (its my highest setting.) You may want to check for an update on the card.
PS My PC is one of the cheapo 299 dells from about a year ago

Your screen is probably limited to a max of 900 vertical. You will not be able to run PET6. However, there is a pdf version of PET available which you will be able to run. It's not as nice as PET, but pretty good. Search the archives.

You can probably plug in an external monitor with the right specs, if the laptop screen won't do larger than 900.

And I also looked for a vid card driver update, but there isn't one for mine.
WTF? I can't believe I can't get this very common resolution on this freakin laptop.

I'm severly addicted to my wireless laptop, so the idea of being tied down to a desktop machine is against my moral compass, or my religion, or something like that.
But perhaps I need to get off my butt and go try that. I'm sure it will work.

Wireless laptops; only way to go.............sit on the deck, watch the scenery and the river flow by and "work".
I too had issues with PET6 on my old LT............no worries with my Dell Latitude D610 or the HP 6220.........perhaps time for an upgrade.

Just use PDF version. Its some ways better than EXE. For example after some use its fairly easy to scroll to within few pages of what one is looking for.

It is possible to run PET EXE with smaller resolution after installation is done with external monitor but some of the buttons will not be visible as they are too far right IIRR.

There are virtual desktop utilities that will allow you to emulate a 1280x1024 desktop, and allow you to scroll around. They are more hassle than they are worth IMHO, but wanted to let you know of the other alternative.
