Anyone familiar with G' Tech/Force use and data reliability?
1. I have zero access to a dyno.
2. I want to fabricate a RMB system for my 4.5 L single exhaust.
3. The system will have the advantage of being a bolt on with the option of returning to stock with a simple flanged bolt-up mating system. Also intend on using the SuperTrap with wafer stacks on the RMB.
What I need to do without a dyno is baseline my 0-60, 0-100 times. And I want know if the 'G' is capeable, consistant, and reliable in providing that data.
Seat of the pants is nice but, it's hard to be impartial when cruising in the shark with
a new found RUMBLE and besides who out there calibrates BUTT's these day's?
Anyone have other Ideas on how compare before and after results with other-cheap- methods?
Danke in advance,
Keep em' rolling,

John,
I've had a G-Tech for 3 years. I like the product and have found it to be more accurate than having a friend with a stopwatch - and sometimes its hard to get your friends to wake up at 2 am and go out on a lonely stretch of highway
I have found the 0-60 times very repeatable, the 1/4 mile times seem to be close - with some minor discrepencies in trap speed when I have run it at a strip. I honestly have never used the HP function, as I have guy about 10 minutes away with a dynojet. It SHOULD be relatively accurate, or, what you really need anyway, accurate enough to show the differences.
And it's just a DAMN good time watching those numbers roll off on 0-60 run!(DISCLAIMER: Always keep your eyes on the road too, don't drink and drive, don't roll sushi and drive, blah, blah, blah.)
You might want to have a muffler shop test your cat for flow, that way you know if it's clogged or not. (I have heard the pre 83 cats tend to do this on high miles). You might be able to find somebody with a later (83-84) cat that they want to lose cheap if your current one is clogged.
And if it's not clogged, getting rid of it is seldom the HP goldmine that some say it is. (I'm no huge tree-hugger, but I do like to breathe.)
As far as calibrating your butt, there are more jokes there than you could shake a torque tube at. And they're all SO un-PC I could get flamed for eons to come by the dangerously sensitive.
HTH,
Greg

John,
I have used my G-Tech Pro for a year and the numbers were very consistent. Zero to 60 always gave me either a 5.7/5.8 or 5.9/6.0.
The difference is because of the street I like to do it on is about as flat as I can find for the first run and ever so slightly up hill on the second. Since I am modifying my car, I use that "Delta" to measure change in the cars performance, and for that alone it is worth the price until you are ready for a dyno or actual runs on a track.

Greg and Chris,
Thanks! Two for two, I guess I'll spend a little cash. Close enough and consistant is all I need.
Thanks again.
