Hi Guys, I just put a new stereo in and I need to know how to adapt to the windshield mounted antenna. Is there an adapter readily available

It was a direct plug-and-play on my '85.

not sure if this applies to the 928 but on my 944 the windscreen antenna has a small amplifier box that connects between the window and the stereo. The amplifier has a cable with the standard male end that connects into the head unit. Perhaps your missing the ant. amplifer

Usually the antenna connections are the same except for navigation/phone etc antennas... Maybe you need a right angle adapter due to the depth of the unit or a combo right angle & mini connector (same reason) - in any case the head unit manufacturer should carry an adapter to go to a regular coax connector...?

Can you post a picture of the rear of the unit (or scan of the relevant manual pages) and the connector you have in the car (maybe that was changed?)

The radio has the standard antenna connection the windshield has what looks like a min-pin jack(audio term) I need something to connect the 2. I can't be the only person to have this problem.

The 1982 was NOT equipped with a windshield ant....those later cars which had it had a powered signal amplifier where your dangling plug is located.
