Gas mileage question
I was curious what others get for gas mileage.
I am getting about 15 mpg on the highway with my '83S Euro 5sp. I wondered if that is about right. That is from a 200 mile trip at average speed of about 75 mph.
Am I in the ballpark with the rest of you?
Thanks for your responses.

Mitch and Mike,
Thanks for the info. Mitch, I'm assuming your car is US model. I wonder if the fact mine is EURO makes a difference?
I believe Mike is correct, my car must be a little rich.
Anyone else care to contribute mileage numbers for me? Thanks in advance.

In mixed city/highway driving, I average almost 17mpg. On long highway trips, I manage to get over 20mpg. I never have a tank that's used only for city driving, so no figure for that.

I've been getting really bad mileage lately with exclusively in-town driving. It was as bad as average 13.1 MPG
at average 35 MPH on the last tank. Of course, that's including some rather sprited driving, too. <img border="0" alt="[burnout]" title="" src="graemlins/burnout.gif" />
Odometer just turned over to 60000 yesterday and that means it's time for a new oxygen sensor. Maybe, just maybe, there's a relationship there. Isn't running rich (I'm pretty sure I am) one of the symptoms of an old oxygen sensor?
I just got the replacement oxygen sensor a few days ago, so I guess that's another job for this weekend.

I average 500 miles a week (irrespective of the vehicle I am driving that week). About 60% of that is highway, but heavy traffic with toll booths. I get an average of 17.5 MPG. This has been pretty constant for the last 10 years and 80,000 miles on "Gretch".
Uhh, mileage?
I just put $10 in every few days....
Must remember to fix thatlow-reading fuel gauge.
Ahh, forget it. I don't really want to know anyway.
Did Porsche even mention mileage when marketing these beasts originally?

Mine has a Fuel consumption gauge! Doesn't work though. In fact PO had it repaired 3 times by the porsche dealer. Maybe Porsche also thought, "Ahh who cares!"

My low fuel warning light typically illuminates with 6-7 gallons still left in the tank. I don't know or care if this is normal, since it's at least consistent.
When the guage reads as at or near empty (but before the light comes on), I usually get about 16 gallons in with a fill-up....usually about 280 miles from full.

Not lucky enough to do any worthwhile Highway driving, but in city driving I get the equivalent of 18.5mpg (15.5US mpg).
Also, when red light comes on fill is 70Litres (about 18.5US gal.)
Note: car has no cats (factory) and runs on Premium unleaded (98 Octane....Factory setup is for Super (95 Octane))

I only do high way driveing. Houston being Houstion, you get on a high way to get anywhere. Plus I don't drive there much.
I just finished a 344 mile one way trip, I used about 16 gallons of gas. (Haven't filled up yet for the exact number) That works out to about 21-22 miles per gallon. Average speed, includeing stops, 59 mph. That was alought of troling through a small town at 30, and then accelerating to just under 80 before makeing it to the next town, and doing it again, there was a final finish way faster when I got to with in an hour of my house, as they're back roads, and I know them well.
15 highway sounds low to me, but maybe thats why the US got the L-jet fuel system.
