Default Custom camshaft Q

Hey guys,

With used Euro cams going over a grand has anyone tried having a custom cam ground for the 928. Several companies online will grind any cam you want and have thousands of profiles online...maybe even a 928? At $250 a pop it would be half the cost for the pair and you could even go a little "extra" euro on the grind.

Just thinking I can put my Euro-s cams in the soon to be mine, Non-S. Then I could have new slightly more agressive cams ground for the S engine.

Anyone checked into this yet? Chances are if someone has a set out of the car, they could be used as a "proof"

ive built two 928 part euro 5 liters, one with devek B1 cams and the other euro S cams (82).
HP was pretty close to the same on both.

I recall somone mentioning that welded 928 cams do not have a long life on the street.

Wouldn't any stock 928 cam require material be added via welding to increase lift or duration?

Yes it does, and Delta Camshafts (http://www.deltacam.com/index.php) have been doing this process for some time, with excellent results.

Not if you grind and use lash caps.
