Default FS: 1979 928, The Blueshark - $6500

Modified from previous tread -

https://rennlist.com/forums/showthre...=1979+928+sale

Hi All,

Well, I thought I wanted to keep it. But the truth is I've driven it once in the last 2 months. I'ts really time to sell the Blueshark. Its still too nice a car to let rot. It needs to go to someone willing to do the TLC to keep it running. It is not a fire sale, but the car needs to go to a new home. I thought i'd throw it up here again, before putting on Craiglist, Autotrader or *gulp* Ebay.

Here is a website i started when i got the car and kept updated until about 2003.

http://members.rennlist.com/blueshark/

The basics:

1979 928, Auto trans. Aprox 98,xxx miles. Midnight Blue Metallic (repaint) with cork leather interior. The cars is almost completely stock except for "s" front brakes and a Sony Xplod head unit. The car also had the big Euro H4 headlights (no chrome rings) that makes it look much less dated. It's not a garage kept car, but it has always been covered when not driven.

This car is not perfect, It never was, but its still a great driver.

The biggest maintance item that needs doing is a T-belt/water pump/tensioner rebuild job. It's due this year for it.

Also the cam seals need replacing. Other than that the motor is still tight and running fine. My engine issues seem to stem from coolant leaks due to old hoses failing one at a time. I think i have replace almost all of them by now.

Also the rear Anza muffler needs replacing or repairing. The middle section is new. I have a brand new Cat back Borla system still in the box from 928 Intl. that goes with the car. I also have the cat bypass pipe that has never been installed.

The tach stopped working recently. The speedo still works. Go figure. Probalby just some electrical contacts need to be cleaned up.

The cruise control stopped working recently too.

All fluid maintance has been kept up and is current.

The rear axles and CV joints were rebuilt in 2003. The front and rear brakes were refreshed with new pads and rotors all around as well.

New rear drop links were installed in 2004.

A 4 wheel alignment and wheel bearing adjustment was done in Spring 2005. It has only been driven about 2-3k miles since.

The tires, BF Goodrich G-Force sport radials are still good to go and have plenty of tread left. They were installed in Spring 2005 prior to the alignment job. I think the tires could use a rebalance since the car has been sitting for
long periods. The longest i've gone without driving the car was 3 months. That was this summer.

New gas tank was installed in 2005.

The A/C still blows cold.

A new Diehard battery was installed in March of this year.

Also has a new car cover with bag and cable.

The interior is still in excellent shape except for the seat bottoms. The leather dash is intact and has no cracks. I kept up with the leather care using Leatherique products. All the interior panels are in excellent shape as well but
could use some rehab, ie the glue is starting to give out. Most notably in the door panels. The electric seats need some maintance. I suspect relay issues.

The body is in VG condition. There is one rust spot that is noted in the above website. The paint there has blistered out by now but its still in check.

All in all this is still a great car. It just needs some TLC.

With that in mind i'm selling the car for $6500 as is. That is the middle of the price range for 77-79 928's (per the most recent Excellence). I will include the shop manunals, all reciepts i have, books and other extras like the bra and service covers and any specialty tools like the Kempf t-belt tensioner tool.

Please feel free to ask me any questions at all. If your local to me, you can come by check the car out anytime. Just give me a shout before hand.

I like the color of John's better.. plus it has a documented history..... but not a bad price on the Portland car..... Actually the wife told me last week that she's interested in a 928 street car that she could use for autocross - so I'm starting to think about another...

Bump!

Somebody please buy this car.

Thanks!

I'm willing to lower the price (but not give it away). It needs to go.
