Don't feel like the Lone Ranger on that one. I had magnetic numbers for my 951 for years. I completely forgot about the aluminum and had to use shoe polish this past weekend at the track. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />
Don't feel too bad. I had a good friend who did the same thing with his 928S4. Harry should remember me telling him about that one. My friend ended-up using them as giant refrigerator magnets.
Mark,
I, too, "discovered" this problem when trying to use my 944 Turbo S magnetic numbers on my "new" track car ('89 S4) MOST embarrassing!
Fortunately, I was still able to use them on the rear quarter panels, with a little electrical tape reinforcement where they overlap the bottom of the windows. Not real classy, but better than shoe polish. Smaller numbers would work just fine.
