Unbelievable! Go after him, if he has a shop he MAY have property. A bunch of it oughta be yours, enough to buy a new shark at least. No consolation, but it does show just how GREAT A TEMPTATION a shark is...

UNREAL......I would go totally POSTAL on that guy.....5 minutes alone with that SOB is all I would need...I don't care if he was as big as Hulk Hogan...I would stomp his ***......which is why I do most of my own work on my 928.....& only leave it overnight at shops I trust 110%....which hasn't happened in 3 years....
Okay, maybe I wouldn't...but it sure makes me feel better to think that a$$hole will be married to Bubba when he gets to jail-prison
Then get a good lawyer and take him deep.....report him to the bureau of automotive repair (or whatever is applicable in your state).....better business bureau...basically anyone who will listen....his insurance will probably not pay for it...claiming negligence on his part.....so you'll have to sue to get your $$$

I am so sorry to hear about your story.....I wish you well, I hope you get another 928 that makes you at least as happy and I hope that a**hole gets rammed with a corncob....

Chances are you will need a lawyer. His insurance, if he had any, will not cover this as it was far beyond the scope of his policy. They will scream this instantaneously. You will thus need to sue both his business, and the owner personally. The results will depend on a) the nature of his business (partnership, corporation, LLC) and b) whether your state allows for "piercing the corporate veil" to get at the assets of the owner. Here in MD piercing the corporate veil is just about impossible. But if anything rises to the level worthy of piercing... this is it. Hopefully you get a judge (with a motorhead law clerk to boot) who knows something about cars so as to enable your case to survive a motion to dismiss or for summary judgment on piercing the corporate veil. I would not try to handle this myself, and I am a lawyer, and a motorhead.

i don't see how you can ever be made whole. The money will not replace the car, because you will not find an comparable car. None that will have the love you lavished on this example. And if you are only awarded fair market value, you will not have sufficient cash to cover a better example. Maybe you could hold out until you found another low mileage example, but you would be faced with loss of use for an indefinite period of time. If you have a rental car, do not give it up until you are satisfied with the award/offer. It is your leverage.

Yeah go get them for any damages you can.....People don't give a crap about other people stuff anymore. There was times when shop owners would hardly let people stand next to a car.
That is how I got my litte garage/shop started "Trust" I just finished a 89 Turbo Trans Am and a 1970 502 Chevelle shipped them both from Chicago to Southern Ohio and I do them send them back. There are plenty better than me but they are safe here.
