Cool Post Indiglo-

I finally found the time to install the indiglo kit in my '85 S2 5 Speed. I must say, the kit looked to be pretty good quality. I like the way it looks at night, though it is slightly different than advertised. I installed the "intense red" version, which during the day is a little hard to read and at night, instead of glowing redish, it kind of matches my champagne interior.

This whole thing has not gone off without a few hitches...

First of all, I took my time and did the job slowly and carefully. I've taken the pod apart numerous times with good results, but this time I have a speedometer which reads about 10 mph slow, a horn that now keeps burning its fuse, and turn signals that no longer work. Has anyone had these symptoms before?

-For my install, I wired the indiglo power source to one of the instrument lighting sockets. I bypassed the dash lights rheostat with a jumper wire. Could this be the cause?

Normy,

Was the battery connected when you pulled the pod?

The turn signals get their juice through the hazard switch. Is it working?

I fried my hazard switch one time I took out my pod. The symptoms were no blinkers.

Find a switch. I think the fog lamp switch will do. Swap it for the hazard switch.

Good luck.

I too have had my pod off on many different ocasions, the only times I have not had the turn signals not work is when I put the wrong plug on the wrong connector on the pod. It is possible to reverse the two plugs on the right side of the pod. I have done that a couple of times so I took a sharpie and marked the plugs and terminals to keep me from doing it wrong

Cool

Uhmm...

Bruce you get first prize!

ONLY...I didn't have the connectors wrong...I had the switches wrong! I accidently installed the switch for the rear foglight in the hole for the hazard lights. Oops-

I pulled the pod today [I always unhook the battery- thanx for asking!] and discovered that the speedo needle had gotten bumped. I moved it so that it would peg at 170, and it works properly.

Hello Normy,

I just installed my Speedhut Indiglo's last weekend and it looks as if I will have to do some cutting on them because the holes that the needles go through on the temp, amp, fuel and oil gauges do not line up centered which has caused 3 of the four, not to work. I was wondering if you had experienced anything like this? I am really happy with the way they look, just disappointed in the way they went on.

Thanks,

Dave-

I had the same problem: the cutouts do not match the needles. It didn't cause the gauge to stop working, however. I had to remove one needle on each side in order to get the indiglo sheet and the face plate on. The tiny gap that formed causes a small amount of blue light to leak past the red gauge face. Oh well... I tried!

Hey Normy,

Thanks for the reply, at least I know that it isn't just mine. I will try to adjust them to see if it takes the pressure off of the needles or maybe a little triming. I was just curious about you jumping the the rheostat. Did it cancel or change your original lighting at all, because on mine the original lighting seems to take a little away from the indiglos?

Thanks,

Dave
