Cool Post Indiglo-

I finally found the time to install the indiglo kit in my '85 S2 5 Speed. I must say, the kit looked to be pretty good quality. I like the way it looks at night, though it is slightly different than advertised. I installed the "intense red" version, which during the day is a little hard to read and at night, instead of glowing redish, it kind of matches my champagne interior.

This whole thing has not gone off without a few hitches...

First of all, I took my time and did the job slowly and carefully. I've taken the pod apart numerous times with good results, but this time I have a speedometer which reads about 10 mph slow, a horn that now keeps burning its fuse, and turn signals that no longer work. Has anyone had these symptoms before?

-For my install, I wired the indiglo power source to one of the instrument lighting sockets. I bypassed the dash lights rheostat with a jumper wire. Could this be the cause?

Normy,

Was the battery connected when you pulled the pod?

The turn signals get their juice through the hazard switch. Is it working?

I fried my hazard switch one time I took out my pod. The symptoms were no blinkers.

Find a switch. I think the fog lamp switch will do. Swap it for the hazard switch.

I too have had my pod off on many different ocasions, the only times I have not had the turn signals not work is when I put the wrong plug on the wrong connector on the pod. It is possible to reverse the two plugs on the right side of the pod. I have done that a couple of times so I took a sharpie and marked the plugs and terminals to keep me from doing it wrong

Uhmm...

Bruce you get first prize!

ONLY...I didn't have the connectors wrong...I had the switches wrong! I accidently installed the switch for the rear foglight in the hole for the hazard lights. Oops-

I pulled the pod today [I always unhook the battery- thanx for asking!] and discovered that the speedo needle had gotten bumped. I moved it so that it would peg at 170, and it works properly.

Hello Normy,

I just installed my Speedhut Indiglo's last weekend and it looks as if I will have to do some cutting on them because the holes that the needles go through on the temp,amp,fuel and oil gauges do not line up centered which has caused 3 of the four, not to work. I was wondering if you had experienced anything like this? I am really happy with the way they look, just disappointed in the way they went on.

Dave-

I had the same problem: the cutouts do not match the needles. It didn't cause the gauge to stop working, however. I had to remove one needle on each side in order to get the indiglo sheet and the face plate on. The tiny gap that formed causes a small amount of blue light to leak past the red gauge face. Oh well... I tried!

Hey Normy,

Thanks for the reply, at least I know that it isn't just mine. I will try to adjust them to see if it takes the pressure off of the needles or maybe a little triming. I was just curious about you jumping the the rheostat. Did it cancel or change your original lighting at all, because on mine the original lighting seems to take a little away from the indiglos?
