Post Timing belt re-tension

What's a reasonable price to have the timing belt re-tensioned? Mine is just about due to be done. I didn't see any suggested prices for this in the archives.

Thanks.

I just had my '87 retensioned. It was a 1-hour job, for something like $85.

Buy the 60 buck tool and do it yourself whenever you want. I even put a page on my site.

Order the "NEW" 928 International catalog and download the Devek catalog. 928 Specialists also carries what you need to do it yourself affordably. Most owners are capable of doing this job.

Dave,

I have the tool to check the tension. Add it to the to do list. We'll get it done.

Cool

GAWD I'm nervous about that belt-

I think I'll not buy a tensioner tool. There's a guy at the shop here in town that is way good with 928's, and though I have no fear of mechanical work up to and including pulling the engine, I still don't feel comfortable doing the belt myself. My Euro S2 is an interference engine.....yuck! Why didn't Porsche use a chain?

I have got to learn to do this myself. Every time I see that belt tension alarm go off, my *** gets into a knot only unwound by Jerry Pellegrino's mechanics at EPE. Awsome shop though.......

Hey Normy, the DIY Tbelt tension is a snap. Just get the aftermarket tool and hit the websites. AS for a chain vs belt....the Tbelt is over 7ft long! that would be a long chain!
