oKAY, JUST WENT THROUGH THIS AGAIN.
Lost the guts of one key head, ordered two more. Nice new badges with colour in them. Bit of a struggle to get the key out of the old one -had to dismantle the spring loaded thingy holding the key blade in. It just snaps into the new head though - hold head with light button facing you, hold key (which has two prongs on its back end =- one straight, one bent out) with bent prong away from you ,and push prongs into key head. The bent prong will push back a spring loaded piece inside, and when in far enough the latch piece will snap in and hold the key in. If you open the head as if to change the battery, it will become clear.
Anyway, it only lasted a week before the badge fell out !@#$%^&*(!! Fortunately, I found it on the floor in the car. Superglue time tonight.

The lighted keyhead I got with the car had a missing button, spring and emblem.

I purchased a new lighted keyhead with color emblem and it installed on my key just fine.

Funny thing about these keyheads. They flex when turned. So, off flew the emblem, never to be seen again. Now I have a lighted keyhead without the Porsche emblem, like, what's the point to that?

I purchased another new keyhead with color emblem. This time, I'm going to remove the color emblem and re-attach it to the head with JB weld.

These keyheads are too expensive to loose the Porsche emblem off of them.

I still have an alarm key with out a head. As Keith mentioned in a previous post there are two different sizes. Helmut has the new style and (hooray) the key head I got from the nice people at 928intl fits just fine. Exactly as Thom described. But I am still searching for a replacement head for Heidi. Anyone know where to find one?

Ok here is a aftermarket ke blank:

<a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=10076&item=2414526194" target="_blank">Key</a>

Now my two spare keys for Heidi look like this. If I was to take the key head off would a lighted head fit on it? Or would I still have to get a factory key blank?

Isn't the small version of the keyhead the valet key? I have both the lighted keyhead (not working of course) and the mini key head. Short of going out to my garage, I thought that the valet key didn't open the glove box.

i SUSPECT THOSE keys dont dismantle - looks like my spare gas cap key, which is from Silca (Italy) - you would have to cut/hack/burn the top off. Know anybody who could xray it for you? You are looking for two prongs, one straight, one kinked, 5-6mm long.

That key won't fit a lighted keyhead.

Thanks! Iwasn't holding out to much hope that they would work.

Jp, Yep the are indeed Silca keys form italy. I have never had any other keys such as the valet key or the rear jockey box key or even a lug nut key.

Thanks again!
