Post fabulous car..

arent these just superb autos? i left mine sitting at heathrow for about seven weeks and after a long flight half way round the world it was great to see it still there and for it to start first time, and it just gets better..

after weeks of driving various other cars it was magic to sink in behind the little momo steering wheel and feel the nicely weighted suspension feed back all the road contours as it growled off up the highway in such a no nonsense way. a brief stop to top up water and oil along with a car wash was all it needed to happily charge into miles of touring.

to drive one of these cars in a good state of repair and tune is definitely a sweet reward, every small or large attention paid to it has made a great car even better.

and they can be a monsterous beast out there on the road, devouring ashphalt and tar seal in great mouthfulls of acceleration, with that only slightly muted bellow from the exhaust under full throttle. the way they pick up and go, and go, and keep going in third from 3000rpm as you accelerate into tripple digits, and then sink into a sweeping bend unfailingly.

the way they haul up from speed coming to a roundabout as you snick down through the gears or the way they hustle through undulating back country lanes, lazily turning over in third, occasionaly busy in 2nd and just steering around bends as fast as you can turn the wheel.

and all this before its parked and people ogle it with its fantastic lines and complex curves. these are cars to appreciate, and drive!

Well said Nick!

I am still amazed at what the feel and performance of my car will do in all occasions that the forelying road will offer. This includes many another driver with newer vehicles looking to challenge it.

I have to remind myself the car is 21 years old!

I just can't imagine parting with it.

I love the complete lack of apparent effort on the part of the car to simply go fast. Straight, curves, traffic, you name it. It's such a short time from thought to deed that it startles me sometimes. And I share your welcome home feelings from the beast after being on a few airplanes. I spend my life on them it seems and the drive to and from the airport is one of the highlights of my ownership experience. The feel, sound, and sensation of these animals at speed is breathtaking at times. Slicing thru traffic trying to be on time for a departure or a buck twenty on a left hander in the backroads on the way home... either way it's completely composed. Untaxed. As if it's sayin' "Is that the best you can do?"

Nick, right on. Keith, 21 IS the "coming of age" for these, as my 82 reminds me daily. I ponder how it must have felt when it was new. Wow, if they'd only re-introduce it just as it was in '95, they'd corner the GT market. - Ruf

I recently purchased mine... as I was driving it to its new home, I could help but think back to 1986 when I was just a college student drooling over the 928s in car mags and posters. You all remember that poster with Porsche 928, 911, Ferrari 512BB, Lambo Countach, and a Rolls-Royce? Well, I have owned/am owning 2 out of the 5... 3 more to go!
