Default Car stalls with air on when off gas

With the air on I take my foot off the gas the RPM's drop to 0 then it stalls with air OFF its OK any feedback?
If I catch it just right I can stop it from stalling by hitting the gas!

Sounds like aux air valve not working to kick rpm up with a/c on.

If you have one, it is clamped onto the crossbrace in the engine compartment on the right side. Not sure about 86, that's where it is on my 84. It is a solenoid valve, with two wires going to it. It opens a pathway around the throttle plate, effectively increasing throttle opening by a small fixed amount. You can test the two wires with a test lamp. It should light with AC on. If it has power check that it opens by blowing through it with and without 12V.
Hope that helps.

It's a color combo that you don't see much in modern cars, but it has grown on me so I've really come to like it. Hope you are enjoying yours.

Pin 16 on the LH is supposed to get a signal from the AC ON/OFF button to prevent stalling when the AC is on. Unfortunately, the test plans for the FI system do not show the nature of the signal and how to test for it. It may just be 12V. John Speake's Spanner and Theos' diagnostic program for later cars do test for this signal, so hopefully one of them will pipe in with further details.
