Seattle SCCA Race #1 results
First it was great to see Maurice and his beautiful 79 928 and always nice to see Tom Middelton's 89 GT and of course Curt Nichols (ex 928 owner <Go Figure>).
Day started out wet - qualify, 1st group out after the previous days practice. 3rd lap into the qualifing session a BMW rolled and rolled some more and black flagged the qualifying session. 5 hour wait until the race.
I started out 12th, Ken Osage started 19th, field of 33. My previous best time at this track was 1:48:00, dropped it down to 1:45:00 during practice - needed 1:40's to be competitive. Exciting start, 3 wide into the high speed sweeping turn, down the hill into the corner - GT3 lost his brakes, made a great recovery. No idea where I was positioned, cars spread out and started focusing on my laps. One by one I starting picking off cars (have some great video clips I'll post later of Greg Fordahl trying to block me in his 944, left then right, then left, then *Poof* he's gone)- and then back into the battle with the Ford Cobra from my previous races - passed him onto the corner prior to the straight - then it me, the cobra, and Ken Osage - bumper to bumper for then next 8 laps... lots of sliding - but the 928 really shines on the sweeping turns - then I make a rookie mistake - pushed the car a little too hard - slide.. lost a fraction of a second and he passed me.... one lap to go.. Ken's on my tail... one last effort at the Corba.. deep into the final corner.. hard brakes... got him... almost.. .lost too much speed and he pulls away... beating me by 1/2 a car length.
Bottom Line.. Chuck 4th place, Ken Osage 5th place. Dropped my lap times down to 1:38:xx - beat Ken by 100 of a second.
Feeling pretty good day overall - First place ran a 1:23:00 - I need a couple more years of racing to reach that - but a 3rd place might be possible tomorrow...
Can't praise Ken Osage enough - 4th race for him this year and he's filling my rear view mirror.
Hopefully Mr. Kibort was sucessfull this weekend.... (BTW - Mark - had alot of SF racers up with stories about you).
Off to bed - and back to the races.

Thanks Adam,
We found a 993 driver that had an extra set which means Ken gets to race tomorrow. Just watched the video - Finally some "Real" racing video... Will post it Tuesday..
