the pheonix rises
hi all
my car is now on the road! <img src="graemlins/jumper.gif" border="0" alt="[jumper]" />
got hold of another engine from a car that had been hit in the rear and caught fire. luckily, the fire stopped at the front firewall.
only damage to the engine was a dusting of molten plastic from the air filter and its housing.
cleaned the engine up - took a day, fitted it, also took a day........and its a beauty.
no idea how many miles it has done, but i pulled the sump, and the bottom end and bores look fine. crank end float well within spec.
so, hopefully i will have a happy summer cruising around.
many thanks to all that have helped with the problems on the original engine.
all i can say is:
CHECK YOUR TORQUE TUBE DRIVE SHAFT CLAMP!
a simple end float check, WILL preserve your engine.
regards - and thanks

John,
Don't forget to preserve the 'good parts of your old engine. Big bucks involved there.
Again, you have impressed me with your skill and speed!
Say... are the roads in Cornwall as tight as the the roads on the outskirts of Hereford? You know the type...barely room for two vehicles, no shoulder, blind turns, high crowns and those hideous, tank proof, hedges. I swear those hedges were planted by Hadrian and his Legiones and are mapped on the original Corpus Mundi.
After your recent difficulties, it goes without saying. Have fun!!!
