Post now that you've maybe solved my valve-cover problem, what about the old hardware?

My valve cover bolts don't look too bad, but I was thinking about putting new hardware...until I saw the price!!!!!!!!!!!

So I started thinking about getting my stuff plated. Maybe nickel? Any thoughts. Can't spend too much $$.

Too bad they didn't make the hardware out of stainless so it could simply be polished. Also I was thinking that it would look great with socket head cap screws instead of the factory ones. The problem is that it appears that these shoulder bolts are non standard. A 6mm thread with a 9mm shoulder.

I had mine teflon coated. Mine are black, but there are a few other colors available. It's been over a year, and they still look good. They guy who did some other coating for me recommended it. It was $20 to get all the bolts and washers done.

Yes Mike,

I would like to get ahold of the shop that did your hardware. Trying to get all info, and shops in line when I pull my motor for a few mods in the winter.

Any place that does teflon coating should be able to do it. There are several colors of teflon available. My valve cover hardware is done in black, and I had a few other brackets coated in a gold colored teflon. Mine was done by:
