New book coming soon
Porsche 928, 924, 944, and 968: The Front-engined Sports Car (Paperback)
by Marc Cranswick.
Synopsis
Porsche AG, today the most profitable car company in the world, was in 1975 a small but headstrong German automaker on the verge of its most significant development. New national laws were changing the way manufacturers designed their products, but the auto consumer was also craving more exciting and innovative design. That innovation came in 1975 with the release of the revolutionary Porsche 924. This book begins its analysis with the creation of the Porsche 924 and the impact it made on the automotive world. During the 1980s, Porsche honed earlier 924 designs to create the 944 and its Turbo and convertible variants, and later the 968, completing a line that has produced some of the most respected sports cars of the modern era. The test also follows in detail the long production life and development of Porsche's V-8 powered high performance grand tourer, the 928 - introduced in 1977, named the 1978 European Car of the Year and culminating in the 350 bhp 928 GTS of the 1990s. This history of the dynamic Porsche family gives a full account of each model and reveals the unique contributions each has made to a constantly evolving automotive world.
Sounds somewhat promising. Maybe finally there will be book which covers how 928 evolved after introduction.

Bingo. If it's a legit 100+ pager, then this is a great find for us junkies!
Thanks!

Doesn't yet show up on Books in Print or the OCLC database. When they do you (or a professional librarian) can get details on page numbers, format, construction (paperback, hardbound, etc), that kind of thing. Based on the author's other listings, it will likely be high-quality, around 195 pages long, mostly color. But then this is a different publisher.

Just got this email from Amazon.co.uk:
Unfortunately, the release date for the item(s) listed below was changed by the supplier, and we need to provide you with a new estimated delivery date based on the new release date
I'm quessing this means also UK release date will be end of June instead of beginning. Certainly hope so.

Funny this thread popped up. Believe it or not, I have been talking with Marc (The author)for about 2.5 years now about this book. He just emailed me and confirmed that my ride is in his book. (there goes the neighborhood). I'm working on getting a signed copy from him. He thinks it's going to be big.
Here's an excerpt:
Hi Brad,
Yes, the book is visible here:
http://www.mcfarlandpub.com/book-2.p...=0-7864-3040-0
It's also listed on Amazon.com, Barnes & Noble, Walmart etc. It's coming
out soon, your car is in there, with your name mentioned under each photo. I
was going to inform everyone the moment copies were available at the retail
outlets.
I did a cartoon for the book and also had help from Porsche and Strosek
in Germany. Porsche are awaiting their copy too, it's going to be really
big.
Regards Marc

Porsche 928, 924, 944 And 968 : The Front-Engined Sports Cars by Marc Cranswick
Says its 284 pages - much more than a magazine...! how long has this been out (seems years and years) - did I just miss the whole thing...? what are the reviews from those who already have this?

Must have been some delays, the publication date says 2/2008.
+1 to what Alan said: Anyone here have a copy or read it? Any feedback?
