So i'm on my way home from work.
At an intersection, stopping at the red light, waiting for green, i look in my rear view mirror and notice a car coming up very fast in the right lane then suddently changing to the left lane (were i'm in).
With that kind of speed he's not going to be able to stop in time, so i looked forward and pressed hard on the brake and a sec later i got rearended.
When the light shifted to green i pulled on to the grass by the road .... and he fleed.
I see his rear number plate and write his number down and call the police.
On the road i notice something .. the ususal glass from his headlights ... AND .. his front number plate.
My car is now at the local porsche centre getting repairs, i expect to have it back somtime in juni.
There were witnesses to the accident and his "escape", the engine on his car broke down a few miles later and he the tried to flee across a field where the police caught him and took him in for a blood test and interrogation.

Sucks... I've been rear-ended in mine too, though he didn't flee, and it was nowhere near as bad as this. He's "excuse" was: "But you stopped so quickly". I said: "Red light + Porsche brakes = keep your distance"...
He did try to convince me that a friend of his had a body shop and could "fix" it very cheap, like that was a priority. Some people...

man that stinks. Also, you will now have the problem of finding an S4 replacement rear cover. Hope it all works out okay; glad you weren't hurt...

The damage has been quoted to approx 14000$ USD
His insurance is gonna pay the bills.
I wont have to lift a finger concerning the repairs, i would think that the authorized porsche center can find a rear bumber somewhere.
The car will also go on an alignent bench.

I would be concerned about the slight buckle in the quarter panel, frame damage? The "authorized Porsche center" will probably fit a GTS bumper cover. What kind of car was it?

Dude, that stinks.
Sounds just like what happened to Sterling 2 weeks ago. What is it with people? If they can see over your car they don't figure it counts?
What an a$$! Well, at least the cops got him trying to escape and there was significant damage to his car. Fleeing the scene can be taken as an admission of guilt and his ins. company doesn't have a leg to stand on.
IMHO- I would still keep my hands on the reigns though, don't let them determine where it gets repaired or what gets fixed. I would stay involved every step of the way to make sure it gets done to your satisfaction. You won't make any friends this way, but you'll know it's done right.

The "upside" of the Danish tax system: They'll actually repair $14K worth of damage on insurance. Anywhere else in the world, and the car would have been totalled already.
What's the story on the non-standard headlights?

I don't want to stray too far from just expressing our sympathies and talking about the repair issues, but this line in your report stopped me.
I have never been rear ended, but in thinking about what I would do if I saw one coming my way, you did the opposite of what I had planned to do. I was going to release the brake so some of the energy would be transfered into motion (providing there is forward room), but maybe I have come up with the wrong idea, and I might be increasing the chance for whiplash.
With that kind of speed he's not going to be able to stop in time, so i looked forward and pressed hard on the brake and a sec later i got rearended.
