I seem to recall reading that Zymol is owned by Turtle Wax.

Never underestimate the ability of marketing departments to zero in on the insecurity of suckers with way too much money.

Cool

I recently acquired some StarBrite waxes, by StarTron. I have to say, I have tried a couple of the Zymol products, as well Meguiars, and everything in between (I must have 30 different bottles of different stuff in my garage), but I have never been very happy with any of them. From what I can tell so far, StarBrite's product is the s**t. StarBrite actually sells waxes to the marine market, and boy does this stuff work nice.

Legal Disclaimer. I have no affiliation with this company, but I did get turned onto this stuff by Porschedog (he hangs in OT sometimes, for those of you who don't know him, and works at StarBrite). He sent me a few different products to try when my wife "won" some free 35 mm film he was giving away a while ago. (Thanks Bill!) But I'm not recommending these waxes for that reason. If this stuff was crap, or merely run of the mill, I wouldn't be bothered to reply here. As you can see, I don't post much, so I'm not here to waste my time.

The two I have tried so far are both excellent. The first one I tried about six weeks ago, and just for the heck of it, I put it on my car before I gave it a recent painting (for a laugh, you might check out my wife's (Leslie.) OT thread about troublesome neighbors for a little drama about that, if you haven't seen it already). It went on and rubbed off just a little tougher than the stuff I've been using, BUT I only had to do it once, as compared to three times with some of those others, to get the shine that I wanted. Even better, it worked on the aluminum wheels and the aluminum under my hood equally well, and better than the Mother's paste I've been using for years. The wheels are like friggin mirrors now. It gives a great, lustrous shine, and so far it seems to prevent dirt from sticking to it as easily. And let me tell how much of a bitch it was to sand off when I finally got around to painting my car a couple of weeks later. Holy Crap!!

The second wax I tried just a couple of weeks ago. It's called a premium cleaning wax and scratch remover, and was easier going on and off, but seems to do an equally nice job from what I can tell so far. I haven't tried it on aluminum yet, so can't speak for that part. But, I have put it on my car post-paint job now, and my wife's, and the shine is sweet. He also sent me some other kind of RV wax, which I have not tried yet, since my paint job is not cured enough for it, but I will probably put it on the Durango to see how that works one of these days. Given the performance of the other two, I fully expect it to be just as amazing.

I really found these products to truly be far superior to the other products I've been using for many years. These few containers are going to replace all those other bottles on my wall, and save me tons of space in my garage as a bonus.

As an aside, he also turned me on to StarTron's fuel enzyme, which is pretty kickin' stuff too. I noticed a definite improvement in all three of our cars (both 84 Euros and the wife's 98 Durango) with the first application, even my Euro with the newly refurbed fuel injectors.

Walmart carries StarTron and StarBrite products, although my wife has had trouble finding it at the local Walmart; but it is listed at some of the Walmarts a little further afield, like Secaucus. StarTron's website has a store locator (www.startron.com) for locating the fuel treatments they sell. The www.starbrite.com website for the waxes, and a ton of other products, doesn't have a locator, but you can email them through the "Contact Us" button at their website for more info. Or just contact Porschedog here.
