Many things on eBay are just discounted bargains. Others are not. I once saw legitimate (er, change that to authentic) Bosch MAFs in quantity for $89.
I bought one of those MAFs and the guy only had about 20 that he found in a warehouse, and didn't know what they fit. He was surprised that they sold so fast (I tried to buy a dozen but was too late). Those are long gone and no more have surfaced. Chinese made will continue to surface.

I'm not saying they are misrepresented parts or not, but the madeinchina.com ad for fuel pumps solves one question. HOWEVER, as an entrepranauer (sic) if you were selling pumps for a $100 each and they were selling faster than you could stock them...it stands to reason that the savvy salesperson would up the price to what the market would bear...but still low enough to beat out the competition..or possibly in this case, legitimate Bosch parts.

Nevertheless, Bosch makes me nervous whereall it has parts made anymore. I've had Bosch parts (bought from Porsche dealers) that came from several countries. The stuff from Spain came in really cheaply made boxes. I don't think the Big Three or Porsche dealers are selling Made in Chinese yet...at least I hope not. Perhaps that will happen at some point if the market moves that direction. Currently, the Chinese craftsmanship is all over the board...except perhaps high quality.

However, if Bosch were to set up a factory in China, and import its manufacturing equipment, and (especially) quality control standards, I suspect they could make a good part...priced cheaper. But until that's a proven fact, I'm sticking with the tried and true. I don't mind changing out some parts that are easy to do but a fuel pump or water pump is not a roadside changeout that I cherish.

I sent the seller a message asking him if they are genuine, here is the response (in Engrish) I got back:

HELLO,
WE ARE GENUINE BOSCH IMPORTERS AND EXPORTERS .
IF YOU CAN SELL ME A COUNTERFIT BOSCH 044 PUMP I CAN MAKE SURE THAT BOSCH AUSTRALIA WILL TAKE ACTION.
CAN YOU TELL ME WHICH COMPANY SELLS THOSE ?
I AM LOOKING FOR FAKE PRODUCT ALL THE TIME.
NOW,

IF YOU ONLY BUY ONE DOESN'T WORTH IT.
BUT IF YOU WANT TO BUY QUANTITY I CAN SELL THEM TO YOU WITH THE CERTIFICATE OF ORIGIN, THROUGH BOSCH AUSTRALIA AND THE AUSTRALIAN CHAMBER OF COMMERCE.
IF YOU KNOW SOMEONE THAT SELLS FAKE BOSCH AND YOU HAVE A CONTACT TEL NUMBER PLEASE SEND IT TO ME.
I WOULD LIKE TO BUY A FEW PUMPS AND MAKE SURE THAT BOSCH CAN GET THEM.
REGARDS

C'mon people. What kind of business model involves importing pumps into Australia, selling them on eBay and then exporting them back out again? The most significant things Australia has going for it with regards import/export these days are its proximity to, and close economic ties with, China.

You see lots of auctions on eBay from Australia these days. Almost all of it is Chinese in origin. It's not exactly in the center of the planet. I deal daily with import and export - I wouldn't put anyone I care about on top of that pump.

The USA is Australia's 2nd largest trading parnter, care to guess who is first?

I used to buy Momo steering wheels from Australia much cheaper than here in the US, including shipping and customs. There may be money to be made on eBay US selling products from Australia.

Then....how come the Australian 928ers usually find it cheaper to buy 928 parts from the USA than in Australia...and pay the shipping?
