Intake's Back
Just got the intake & cam covers back from Crosslink Powder Coating in Dallas, turned out great. Now I can start the long awaited re-assembly. <img border="0" alt="[jumper]" title="" src="graemlins/jumper.gif" />

Hey Eric,
I got mine back from Crosslink yesterday too. Have you taken a good look at the underside of the cam covers? Or, if you didn't send in your cam covers, take a careful look at the inside surfaces of the sides of the intake. Mine had lots of sand left from the sand blasting process. I used a small wire brush to clean them off. That stuff won't do your injectors any favors.
The inside surfaces of my cam covers are literally covered in sand! I've cleaned half of one side and I've gotten about 8 tablespoons full off. Great stuff for the valve train!!
I plan to bring them back and ask them to have thenm cleaned properly. I can't get into all of the corners.

The first thing I did was inspect them for sand but was very surprised to find absolutly none, even wiped a damp rage down the runners and didn't even have dust on it. Just to be sure I took the pressure washer to it, then blew it out with compressed air.
The lettering on the intake was done with Testers paint pens and the cam covers I did with a small bottle of Testers paint applied with a pipet to kind of fill the lettering.

Other then a killer a/v system, HID lights and a set of Dinan chips, the 750 is stock, I did sand down the burl wood trim and refinish it with some poly two part something or other product, gave it a finish like glass. I sold the car a few months ago, it became a maintenance nightmare, little things like door handles breaking or erratic hvac problems, the final straw was when the wipers stopped working in the middle of a sleet/ snow storm at night while driving home from NY. I just sold the factory 8 binder service manual set on Ebay but I do still have a copys of the ETK and TIS disks which are BMW's parts and service manuals on CD, covers all models from the old 2002 & motorcycles to the Z8, let me know if your interested.
Eric - Those look beautiful!
Ernie - I am very sorry and surprised yours came back with sand.
They should re-do those. Mine came back very clean inside and out. hmmmm...

James, Crosslink hasn't billed me yet so I can't say exactly how much, but Steve J. said in an earlier post his was about $125 for everything from the same place. The turn around was about 1-1/2 weeks, I was going to try stripping and repainting myself but when I found out it was that cheap to let someone else handle the mess, I let them.
