Simon,

The Bonneville 100 (6/9) and Gambler's Run (7/14) are Saturday events. So Tech and Practice
on Friday, race on Saturday, go home on Sunday. So they're only a two days off events (travel
Thurs), though I think Bill drove up once after work on Thursday. The Pony Express (8/26)
is still run on Sunday, so it's a three days off event.

Do you happen to have some interior pictures after the roll cage was installed? I heard that it's really a unique and sophisticated installation, with all interior panels in place - the true 200mph luxury cruiser!

Also, this might be areally dumb question, but since you wrote about taping the hood seams:

Is the idea to close up the seams in such a way that air is only sucked out at the coil? I assume that is the reason for the raised hood, but I'm wondering how this is set-up around the heater box and its flimsy cover - I would assume that if you don't install the rubber seal, the cover would fly off...

Tim
I was just about to ask if you taped the hood seams......but you did......you could probably do an exacto knife trim job on the foglight inserts to make them a touch more aero.....probably doesn't mean much..but at 200mph....it might count for something?

Hmm a custom fiberglass mold or injected molded plastic insert fog light cover thats taped on to improve aerodynamics for ORR......contour matched to the lines of the factory bumper...sounds like a good product!

You might be able to sell 6 if the cost is low, otherwise everyone will make
they're own knock-offs....

Keep it simple....cut them out of 1/8" abs and be done with it!

When I find my old "tested" set, i will pass them on to Tim. I think George already has a set he made.

The fog light covers serve two purposes....smooth out the front area, and protect the lenses from 200mph birds. I used closed cell foam padding (from the OSH garden center, a kneepad cut in half lengthwise), and told Tim about it at SITP. I figure the foam can absorb enough of the energy to keep the lens from breaking. I've seen the effects of high speed bird encounters many times at ORR. George shattered a fog lens from a bird a couple years ago at an ORR....he even had lens protection film on at the time. In fact, I think the lens is still held together with the film.

Congratulations..!!

Sounds like you did a lot of the session "driving with your head".....also, driving a car at an actual 200 mph is NOT for the faint of heart, and is NOT easy.

WELL DONE..!

Super job - when you two set out on a goal you get it done with perfection. Congratulations on such a fine car and a job well done. 200 MPH can be safe, you've proven it.

Duh! I'm either getting old or Alzheimers... Hope it's only the first of the two.

Nope, no results on the radar yet. I have the overall class results but not the radar. Because of the angle they shoot at now I anticipate 197 or so on the radar. I'll post the actual radar results when I get them.
