Fuel econ
Ok, ok, I know a lot of you guys probably don't want to talk about your fuel econ. but I'm curious on what the 928 gets. To make you feel better the Bently Continental GT gets 3mpg City 8mpg Highway. My current best was 19 city/28 highway. I noticed a 2mpg gain from the summer blend verses the winter crap.

Godzilla just got 19.XXmpg driving around the islands here over the weekend. Some of that was running around the city traffic, so I'd say I'd have got 22mpg as I usually do. This is with highly spirited driving. Oil consumption over the past 5 tanks of gas: zero.
Around the city and short trips Godzilla gets a very consistent 16mpg. In the past I've got as much as 27mpg on long monotonous trips.

I've been getting a rather pitiful 11 in purely city driving the last few months. At that rate, some of those miles are spent looking for the cheapest station!
And yes, I have checked to make sure it's not just leaking out!

90GT, I get 16 city and 25 highway. But I drive pretty modestly most of the time. My combined econ rating over the past six months has been right at 20.4 ave on the gauge.

17 in "combined" driving that's really mostly city, with some SoCal freeway stop-and-go. I see 22mpg on the dash display on some trips but don't depend on any more than 20 unless I use the cruise control at 55-65. It turns out I only do that inthe SoCal freeway stop-and-go.
The fuel economy is directly connected to the way I drive. Gentle on the pedal shows up readily at the pump.
Also-- I have an automatic. When I got the car I adjusted the TV cable pretty snug on advice from the lists. Several months ago I relaxed some of that adjustment and picked up 1.5 mpg. There's more to go. I'm trying to get away from some premature downshifts when just cruising through (not 'in') freeway traffic. If it gets too sluggish I'll add a parallel kickdown switch I guess. Picking up 5-10% in fuel economy with a trans adjustment is pretty significant. It won't make any difference in highway cruising mileage. but with the bulk of the miles done in (or 'through') SoCal traffic, it will save me a whopping $40 a year in 928 gas costs. A year or two of that will pay for the PKS install...

When I first bought the car and drove it home to Ann Arbor from D.C. VERY conservatively I averaged just under 30mpg. Never since then have I done as well.
And since my odometer is broken AGAIN I have no idea these days...

On a recent 500 mile road trip my supercharged 81 averaged 17.9mpg. This is with the 2:73 rear end 5-speed with a few "fun" areas along the way
So down the highway she's spinning around 3,500rpm.
I'll be swapping in a 2:20 from an 85 before Sharks In Hell.

?? Is it a big deal to swap rear ratios? Is it the whole rear end or is there a way of changing a gear out easily?
