Post How do you like your tires? Suggestions?

In two weeks I plan on swapping out the original non-adjustable Boge's/springs, then replacing the tires. (front 225/50-16, rear 245/50-16 Michelin Pilot XGT V4's).

My usage will be daily driver w/some AutoX and DE. (limited, but wanna be safe). No snow ever.

What might you suggest under the assumption I am gonna use the same size tires. What are you running, how do they handle, noise, wet, wear, and most important question....Would you buy them again.

Thanks,
Bob

Got Toyo Proxies on Heidi and she handles very well in the wet. Doesn't break loose unless I hit the kickdown switch in a corner. Buy them again? Don't know yet I only have 2500 miles on them and plan on going to 17" wheels when I do need new tires.
Got Kumho Ecsta's on Helmut. Not so great in the wet, *** end stepped out many times, but I was hammering him around corners pretty hard to evaluate the S4 suspension and brakes and really enjoying the 5sp trans. Buy them again probably not.

Last May I purchased Bridgeston Pole Postion S-03 tires. I like them better in every respect versus my previous Pirellis and Dunlops.

Go to tirerack.com and read their survey results on each tire you are interested in. It should help you with the type that fits your needs. I found it to be accurate based on the tires I have previously purchased.

Here is the survey on my S-03.

I have put many thousands of miles miles on Yoks and like them alot. I use to run BFG Radial TA and found that they wore out fast. I like the Yoks.....and they are cheap.

Since I have Kumho tires on the front, the car pulls to the right. Alignment did not help. I'm waiting for response from the tire dealer.

Now I think I know why Porsche never approved Kumho tires...

I've got the Yok's, too (EVS-100's) Great looking tire! Only about 1000 mi on them - showing NO wear...and they are STICKY....wet or dry. And MUCH quieter than the Eagle GS-C's that the PO had on the car (THE EAGLES SUCK!). I bought a set of S4 wheels, so with the 8" rears, I am running 225/50-16 FR and 245/45 Rear. Left the Eagles on the old wheels and use them for AX and DE.

I got the YOK's from tirerack.com. They were right at $400 including shipping for all 4!

I have Kumho ECSTA 712's and really like them, especially for the price. Dry grip is great and wet grip is surprizingly good. BUT they are directional and can't be rotated w/o remounting (225's front 255's back). Since alot of 928s have alighnment issues, like mine currently, this can be a pain.

But since the tires are so cheap, it's less painful to replace the front ones... - Ruf

I agree with Mark. I have the same tires which replaced my Brickstone RE730's. They are much quieter and look better.

The only issue I have with them, is that they feel a little softer than I like. When cornering hard, the tread feels like it is stretching, just not a hard sticky turn.

All in all, the tire is fabulous for the price!

I have the Bridgeston Pole Postion S-03 tires and luv them at this point. Around 5K miles with little wear if any. Sticky and quite but damn expensive.

I am running the Bridgstone 730s. I ran around 12 big autoX events and put around 7k miles on them. They are now down to the wear bars. I enjoyed them while they lasted, and I drove the @#$@ out of them. I bought them at COSTCO for $500. and that included balancing and rotations when ever I needed. I needed every week after each autoX event.

I would buy them again. I am looking at saving some money so that I can buy a set of race tires to play on.

I've also got Bridgestone Potenza S03's all round. Used to have SO2's on the back. Love the grip wet & dry but the SO2's wore down rather quickly (I did drive themm hard) the SO3's are supposed to run a bit longer and so far seem just as good if not better.

I just bought new rear tires, Dayton Daytona 275/40 ZR 17. For $120.00 a tire (Z rated directional) they seem like a great deal. They have much less road noise then my previous Cotinental Conti Sport and look very nice. I have not been able to really put them to the limit, but I like them so far.

Michelin pilot sports, 225/45-17 & 255/40-17 so far so good. I will save my final evaluation until SITP this year (fun run). Last year the 225/16 stock size dunlops were suprizingly good and made much less racket than the Kumho 712's in the car in front of me...he let me by.

I also like the P-Zero Rosso's - this may be my next set..
