Post Too good to be true

Had the 928 in for State inspection Friday. I was unable to enter their bay because of the safety lip around the pit they use to get under the vehicle for oil changes and inspections. The lip was too tall for the front spoiler to clear. They checked the lights, wipers and the usual things, and slapped a sticker on it. They made several nice comments about the car being so "clean and unmolested". I got home to change the oil (my first since ownership in Feb. 2002) and much to my surprise, all emissions have been removed from the car. I have straight pipes from the headers to a Y, then a single pipe to the rear muffler. I got to looking around, and the smog pump and associated hoses have been removed too. I really like the sound of the exhaust, and the motor runs very, very smooth. The antenna is still as a tombstone at idle. Texas does have emissions exempt status for cars 25 years and older, but she's not there yet. I thought it being "totally stock" was too good to be true when I bought it from the PO. I think I'll take my chances for the next two inspections instead of buying and reinstalling the cat and smog pump and associated parts. Even the local Sheriff likes the deep throaty sound! (I'll probably get flamed for not being environmentally correct)

just license the car for a couple of years in one of your counties that does not have the emissions inspection. i know you guys have two different color inspection stickers depending on whether you're in one of those bad, high-ozone counties. heh heh.

Cool

I lived in Dallas in 1996 and my Corrado had a green sticker, but I don't remember any inspections...Other than them handing me a front plate. I kept my Corrado in Dallas for a year with no front tag and never got stopped...not that I didnt deserve it driving back from Deep Ellum a few times-
