paint / repaint questions
I'm going to go look at another 1985s and it has some paint defects. Also, i'm not *crazy* about the color, schieferblau (slate blue) metallic over tan leather. Not what I would consider a stunning color combo, but anyway, what should I expect to spend to do a full repaint? I've tried to get some estimates from body shops but noone is returning my calls or getting back to me. Also, would it be cheesy to repaint a different color? I thik black or metallic black over tan is really nice or maybe a midnight blue... Thoughts?
Thanks,
Rob

It all depends on how you want the car to look.
I would advise against a color change as it will be obvious unless you do a total restoration. It sounds like that's probably not the route you're looking for as it costs a lot of money and time (not to mention these car's aren't worth it... yet).
So if it needs paint, I would reccomend you stay with the original color. But if you don't like the color, then you should probably just pass on the car and wait for the "right one" to come by.

agreed. respray factory color or wait for th right car. esp. black or red, there's enough of those to wait for one...
if these cars retained their value like 9!!'s and other sports cars, you'd lose value if you changed from the factory color. of course if they had retained their value, most of us couldn't afford one...
my car will necer ge a color change, but if i ever got a red one, i could see spraying it something like Speed Yellow. there aren't enough yellow 928's in the world...
