Cops are people too. It's the OVERzealous ones that make a bad name for the rest of them.
To me, it looked like the burnout was done on private property with a closed loop and proper supervision directing traffic.

This thread took a strange turn. Since this thread has gone from cool to beating up the guy - I'll play along:
Impressive burnout to me is a 5-speed car not using the brakes for the same distance or longer
EDIT - To All: this smiley ---> means I'm kidding around.

To All,
The burnout was not the issue at all. The comment I made were towards Charley B. and his comment,
"Yeah. Like there's no rule that says we have to go out and risk our necks everyday to keep everyone else safe."
Popo928 - This was never pointed at you.

Shawn,
KICK A$$!!!!! Great Job!!!
That is the whole point, just because a guy is a cop doesn't mean he can't have innocent fun like any of us do. Let those who have never left a black mark on a road cast the first stone. Besides, if you really knew what Shawn does in the law enforcement community you would encourage him to do this everyday to blow off a little steam to help keep his sanity. I personally can not comprehend how he does what he does and stays "human". Trust me, he ain't in traffic enforcement.. :-)
Actually it was, I am pretty sure I recognize that street and it is not a government road.
IbeKevin,
His Police Chief was stopping traffic at one end of the private street and the Mayor was stopping traffic at the other end.
Don't worry, be Happy... and let others have fun.

Jeez...I'm sorry for starting that whole bash Popo turn that this thread took. I was joking and I thought I was clear enough about that. Sorry Popo, nice burnout. What can you do without power braking it?

Cops are people too (rant)
Sorry to hi-jack this thread but a nerve has been hit. No criticism of anyone but...
Cops are people too. My son was a cop for a few years and I saw first hand what that job was like. After two years, he went back to college to train in something else after he got tired of the sh&t dished out to him for saving people's lives, drug busts, being contaminated, spit on, having to go to arm to arm fighting, being penalized by the legal system's lawyers for doing his job, dealing with drunks and spaced out potheads who insist on driving, people shooting at him, bad and irregular working hours, poor pay, having to wear a bullet proof vest, never knowing who was going to go beserk and kill him, dealing with crazed domestic disputes where guns were involved, people chewing him out for just being a cop, flipping him off when he was off-duty, etc.
Admittedly, none of us like speeding tickets and some cops do get over zealous (even jealous of P-cars and single us out) and it makes it bad for the others. Given the kind of job it is, it takes someone who's really dedicated (or crazy) to do that job. Don't pre-judge them all because of the few badge-happy jerks.
When there's a shortage of cops and doctors, we'll all be in deep doo doo.
The more police officers who own nice sports cars, the better off all of us will be.

Burnouts are illegal?! Egad! When did that happen?
I was going to ask Popo to do a nice roll-on version, but that could get us in even worse trouble - conspiracy to commit a burnout!

I have a neighbor right next door who is a cop. He is a point man for the drug busts in Baltimore city. This dude has been shot and one of his partners was shot 5 times and lived. He also loves to ride sport bikes. I have seen him romp on that thing many times-dude's nuts! He is a regular guy who has mucho stress who does regular guy things. Yes there are some cops who should not be cops. You know the type. They are the ones we relentlessly picked on and kicked their asses a time or two in school and now they got the badge-and the much dreamt about POWER. That being said most cops I know are decent regular guys. It is important to know the difference.

I don't have any issue with this aside from wasting perfectly good and likely expensive tires. If it were done on some busy city street or if it were another YouTube street racer wanna-be video then it would be different.
Quiet street away from everyone? Go ahead and do some *cough* diagnostic acceleration testing. ;-)
