How much smoke?
Do the exhaust fumes make your eyes water and burn because they're so rich?

LH2.2 (84-86) does not learn, or have a memory to reset. (Both ECUs are only powered when the ignition is on, IE they are not wired for constant battery power.)

Gummed up injectors?

OK black smoke equals RICH! Need to check your fuel regulator, make sure you have good vacuum to it and/or that the diaphram isn't shot. When you have no vacuum at the regulator it goes to max pressure, and with the old (weaker) injectors in there it will be dumping loads of fuel in.

When I added a S/C to my '86 I had routed the vacuum wrong and the car wouldn't idle for **** and would blow lots of black smoke from the rich condition. Heinrich got out his mighty vac and helped me trace it down.

I have seen vacuum diagrams for the '85-'86.5 posted, do a search and make doubly sure your vacuum connections are correct.

Make sure all your wires are reconnected to the correct places and no harness is clamped down so hard as to short out.

Car after intake rebuild was running but low on power. After several conversations it was suggested to place the old inj back in. After doing this the idle was rough and it was putting out a little black smoke the test drive was uneven in power. The idle is real low One pintal cap fell apart used the old o-rings, I took the O-rings from the Ford inj after I had this problem still the same. Reg has not been touched just the side rails I'm at a loss.

If the vacuum diaphragms on the regulators are bad, you can test them with a vacuum pump. When you attach the hose to the diaphragm and try to pull some vacuum, you'll pull gas into the pump.

Your LH is bad.

Checked for vacuum on all no problem, Lh was swapped this A.M. running ok untill the inj were hanged. I might have a wiring issue or a stuck inj they have been off for a few weeks.
