once and for all. No more dead batteries. No more boosting required to get going. I have tested this product for 1 week now, deliberately leaving a light on at nights. In the morning, I press one button on the remote (Reset) and she starts instantly. Park your shark in confidence, knowing that your battery is now protected. I am including pics because I had to modify the installation since our batteries are installed at the back and way down under. I installed the vibration sensor (tells cpu that engine is running) in the rear quarter over the exhaust. Enough racket in my car to tell it that I'm driving. It is sold in Canada at Canadian Tire Stores : Eliminator Intelligent Battery Guard ($69.99) Product #11-3001-4). Disclaimer: I am not affiliated with this Store. It is also a "smart" electronic version of a battery cut out switch. I removed mine after this thing works so well (It prevents the car from starting but maintains radio memory.
Hessank,
Gotta ask as I don't know which year your 928 is, will the S4 LED alarm on the door buttons still flash & will it supply power to an after market alarm?
Its good you are happy with it and it seems to be working - but it is basically still a band-aid right?
My experience with battery minders is that they often cause the very issues they puport to solve... so personally I would not add one to an otherwise healthy car.
In this case it looks like it adds quite a long extra run to the +ve lead to the starter (and everythng else)... this is not ideal becuase this is a VERY high current connection.

Alan,
I don't think this product is actually a "battery minder". From reading the description, it looks like it only "isolates" the battery from the car if it detects the charge in the battery falls to a certain level, ie. what they describe as being enough left to start your car. It seems to me it does nothing to that point, therefore not effecting any normal drains on the battery when the engine is off (radio memory, clock, alarms). I gather this would protect against accidentally leaving an interior light on or an unexpected failure where a drain is put on the battery. Thoughts? http://www.canadiantire.ca/browse/pr...romSearch=true

Thats my definition of a 'battery minder' vs a 'battery maintainer/trickle charger'
In normal operation its monitoring the battery so it can potentially be a new leakage source... yes it only benefits you after the battery is partly drained - but that still can be used to address the issue as seems to be the case here.
To answer some of the questions, yes, it still allows the normal factory alarm to work. Secondly, do a search on this forum and there are a large number of members who have battery drain problems that they are unable to identify and fix. Yes, it is a temp fix but not for those who cannot find the root cause for their drain. I was one of those folks. For those folks who have to carry around emergency battery chargers, THIS IS A SOLUTION. Yes, it only isolutes the battery when it finds the that the voltage is about to drop below 12v.
