Take it easy and get plenty of rest Louie, sounds like you got to the hospital and got the right treatment, great to hear you still have a sense of humor though !! That will help a bunch.
Next TA we'll make sure to have some healthy food on hand !

Hi Walley,
There was a big dose of denial going on. The classic symptoms were there, but I didn't want to admit to myself that it could really be happening. After all, I was keeping my cholestrol, triglycerides, BP, in check. Walking, physically working, living the clean life, etc. This just wasn't supposed to be happening to me. Well, it did and could have been worse.

That isn't what I would have expected of you! I would have expected you to have already investigated the possibilities and the appropriate actions long ago. Oh, well. As the Ductch say, "Too soon old, too late smart!" I'm really, really glad that you got away with it!
Get well soon. Perhaps a rehab trip to the mountains of North Carolina would be a good thing...

Wow Louie! That sucks! But I love the way you make it sound like you skinned a knuckle. Take her easy, and get better. I like Wally's suggestion of coming to SITM for a little R&R.

Yeah, a sensor problem... If ever there is a case for 'trust, but verify' on those sensor readings this is it!
One of Karen's favorite girlfriends is now married to my cardioligist, so when the early signs were coming it, we were on the phone right away. Didn't have quite the adventure you did, but I was tackled off the treadmill by his maybe 100lb Philippina nurse, onto a waiting gurney, when there was an indicator she didn't like.
The daily regimen now includes enteric aspirin, the stuff with the safety coating that supposedly delays release until the pill is downstream of the stomach. They are worthless during a MI (need a full dose+ of regular aspirin as you used), but are a lot better for us "chronic drug users".
Be glad it wasn't worse. Often a mild event is just the wakeup call needed. I know that, at 50, I was way into denial. You are a lot younger than that, so you are probably deeper.
Things like distances to a trauma and cardio unit are becoming more important as we look at places to more completely retire. Room for a barn and a big workshop used to be right at the top of the list, but reality is that those are pretty worthless if I'm not there to enjoy them. Karen likes the Bend area, but hasn't been there during the winter months yet. She also thinks Phoenix would be nice, but has only been there in the winter months. Maybe we'll be snow-birds between the locations. At least there are good hospitals nearby both.
Count yoiur blessings my friend, and follow your doctors' advice about healing time and not pushing cars around in the shop. It's OK to go out there, but that may be just to sit and enjoy a glass of wine and contemplate your navel. Our prayers are with you for a full recovery.

Hi Bob,
Thanks for your thoughts.
Yup Aspirin CE is on the daily meal ticket now.
Ummm. Bob, I'm 67 not 50. Well into geezerhood. Should have known it was coming I guess. Denial, head-in-sand.
When we were checking for retirement places being within 1/2 hr from a hospital was one of the criteria and it worked this time.
Bend was nice 30 yrs ago, but way too Californicated and yuppyized by now. Last year, home prices reported largest % rise in the entire country. The winters are quite harsh for my taste, but it's reported they get 300+ days of sunshine each year. We are at near sea level so temp extremes aren't so much, but slightly East of the Cascades so rain not so much as further West. Winters still are - winters with freezing and snow. Some leave, but I like it and it gives me a chance to do inside projects. There is something about being in my toasty shop hearing the wind blow and either rain or snow falling that I like.

Louie--
I figured you might be senior to me but didn't want to assume anything. I started dying my hair grey a few dozen years ago so the girls would quit jumping me in the parking lot. Dran if it hasn't gone deep into the roots.
Karen likes the fact that Bend's full of Cali escapees. Folks cashing in their artificially-swollen real-estate equities and taking them to where they go a bit further. Once there, the first things they do is make the new neighborhoods like the ones they just left, invite all their old neighbors to come join them in then new neighborhood, pretty soon it's just like home again. We have a bit invested in real estate here and no need to jump anywhere except that Karen isn't so comfortable with some of the costs here. On the flip side, wherever we go there will be the same costs, just with different names. She won't even visit Mammoth with me, since she knows it's so cold there. Won't live at the beach because it's cold and damp there. Bend will be perfect for her... so long as we winter in Phoenix or maybe in the White Mtns above Tucson. So long as there's a golf course.
Where we sit right now, I could zip-line down to the hospital emergency room. It's a 5:1 slope with a nasty splat! at the hospital end of the line below us; It's the sudden stop that gets ya, I here. So we pay into the city's 'priority pre-paid paramedic program', where for a small annual donation, they keep updated records of our health history, meds, doctors and preferences for faster service in a time of need. Hope they can find us!
I hear you on the toasty shop. Good stuff!

You guys take care of yourselves. Think of us 'youngins'. There will be no one around to teach us what to do with these cars if you don't.
Get well Mr. Ott, and be careful with the wife and that floor.
