My AC came back to life this AM. I think the clutch bearing or the compressor is starting to seize. On the way home from work yesterday, I was at a stop light and belt smoke started billowing out from under the hood. I turned it off and the smoke stopped - I gave it another try today and it worked. ![jumper](https://rennlist.com/forums/graemlins/jumper.gif)
Question now is, will it hold through hell?

The caravan along this route is being discussed via an e-mail thread:
CLICK HERE TO SEE THE GREEN BAY --->CHICAGO ---> HELL CARAVAN MAP
If all goes as planned, we might be on the road on the north side of Chicago between 10:00am - 12:00am (keeping this kinda loose at the moment).
If you would like to join our group along the way. Please post here, fire me a PM, send a carrier pigeon, something so we know where to pick you up.
So far:
Me!!!
and Lorelei
Tim Murphy
and Rachel
Fabric
Tim in Chicago Land
and the one and only Z

I have A/C - I hope.
Last summer it was getting a bit on the feeble side, so I figured it just needed a recharge. Many weeks and $ later, I have an R134a conversion and a new control unit, but there may still be some unresolved issues with the heater control valve. But last time I tried it was nice and cold!

Speaking of A/C -
It's 92 degrees today, expected high 95, and the power is out at my house - so no A/C at home either.

Mehinks this will all equal out. Right now, my A/C is meat locker cold. To be sure, it might conk out on the way.
I, however, will be pitching a tent on Friday and Saturday evening. My guess is that that will not be an air conditioned experience. If any of you hear the dunk tank going off in the middle of the night, just go back to sleep.
Are we planning any fix-it workshops or demos? If so, I can bring my Swiss Army knife...

If any fit-it workshops are on tap, I will donate the use of my car (it needs a few misc. fixes)
. It sounds like A/C repair would be a popular choice. I am guessing it would be too hot to work on the cars, I think enjoying some adult beverages
will sound better to most.
