Why do 928 owners spend so much time worrying what 911 owners think?

Do they really worry about that? I don't worry about what 911 owners think, and I own a 928. Maybe there's something wrong with me.... Should I seek the services of a shrink?

Depending what 911, most of them drives like an old bug IMHO.
Test drove a 911 1987, it was a no no.
Test drove a 911 1991 Cab C4, No no, the car felt heavy and underpowered. All memories came back from when I had the VW powered sandrail.
Test drove a 911 1985, was afraid the engine would blow up.
Test drove a Boxster S '01 yesterday, whole different story. Car has a great feel to it. May get it next week :-), doing a PPI on Thursday.

I posted this because it seems that every few weeks a new thread pops up where some 928 owner comiserates over the reasons why 911 owners look down upon the 928. I can only speak for myself and my experiences. I didn't buy my car so that other Porsche owners would applaud my purchase. I bought it because I felt that it offered the best performance per dollar spent. I bought it for me to have fun with and thats what I have done with it.
I don't spend much time around 911 owners, but when I have, I have never had anyone say anything negative about 928's. I think alot of this negativity it a myth that is perpetuated by 928 owners. Get over it. Drive your car because you like it. If someone else doesn't like it, big deal. I'm sure that if you were driving a Honda you might find someone who didn't like civic's if you looked hard enough.

I have test driven a 964 C4 cab and I loved it, it was several years ago but I remember the pull it had, kinda a lurching feeling as you climbed thru the gears, now I didn't take it thru any twisties but none the less it seemed pretty nice. Just didn't like the color scheme. G-Red w/grey leather and red piping. For some reason grey leather just doesn't seem like a "natural" color for a cow??
Ended up buying a boat instead =)
Glad I have the 928 though couldn't thank the PO Jason more for letting me take it outa his tlc. She's not going to another owner for a LONG time if I can help it.
