Liz:
I personally had two 928 S4 models with 316 hp and automatic, and a 928 GT with 326 hp and manual transmission. They were all plenty fast; the GT of course was a notch ahead. However. I did not like the set-up of the 928s manual transmission, so I went back to an automatic (which I shift manually quite often).
My suggestion: go to some 928 gatherings and get rides in a few different types and years of the 928 - with and without modifications. This will give you an impression of the range out there. Then look for a well taken care example...
Not sure what's going on in LA these days, but we have our annual picnic on March 12 here in the SF Bay Area.

Liz, take your time and learn about the car before you buy. It will result in greater satisfaction once you get it. Although the one you're looking at is a fine example, it's also very tricked out and will require a very good and expensive mechanic to maintain. More than most 928's. So unless you have those skills yourself or have great piles of cash to spend on your hobby....
Sharktoberfest is in Fullerton in October. That's the big one. There's a few other minor events from time to time too in San Diego and in the valley. Someone want to paste a link for the Sharktoberfest video on YouTube?
