Default Rollbar/cage? - How much stock do i need!

Need some idea of the amount of stock DOM mild steel i will need to purchase for a 928 track car i am building.

Using 1.75" diameter x .120 wall.

I would like to build it to SCCA "GCR" specs for GT category cars!

A rough estimate is all i need!

Thanks in advance!

How complex of a cage are you building? Where are you anchoring it?

Challenge on the 928 is where to put the anchors. Most of the common rollbar setups use sandwich plates and bolt through the stamped sheetmetal floor. Hardly the strongess mount or location. Fortunately the cars are pretty strong on their own, at least while the main body section is intact.

To figure out how much tubing to buy, you'll want to do at least a drawing of the cage with rough dimensions. Show all your diagonals and braces, your anchor plates, your ties to hard points on the body. Once you have that, getting a material list will be pretty simple. Remember that the tubing comes in 10-ft sections, and there are no butt welds to piece short stuff together. So you need to buy enough to get all the pieces you need, not "just enough" to equal the total feet from the drawing. Your fabricator will be able to help some with the bend and fishmouth allowances.
