Default vibrating shark!

Finally got my Sport Design wheels done and on shark! Got a chance to take it out this beast always amazes me My winter projects included Carl's motor mounts, real gasket, oil pressure sending unit ,all cv boots and tune-up(plugs,caps and rotors, all filters) It runs great and handles much better with 18" wheels but heres what it did twice after being driven then sitting for several hours, when you put it in reverse and go to let the clutch out it shakes like crazy-especially if you are turning while backing up! It does not do this going forward and doesn't do it once it is warmed up. I checked WSM and several threads here on vibrations and would like some expert opinions please. I still have to do valve cover gaskets so when I got home I pulled air box off to see if any oil was leaking down back of engine and couldn't see any.Hopefully I can post pics of this beast tomorrow since I still haven' Thx Dean

Usually clutch chatter is associated with poor flywheel or pressure plate surface. How old is the clutch assembly ?

As far as I can tell it is original, car has 50k and it didn't do this before winter work. I read in one thread that motor mount replacement could cause some kind of misalignment of drivetrain? Ever heard of this?

I replaced motor mounts and cannot see how they would misalign the drivetrain. I think the clutch is critical here. Hacker is always telling me that reverse is a telltale gear for the integrity of the clutch. That's the gear you're having troubles with.

No sponginess in the pedal? You had to remove the starter and relocate a bit of the clutch hydraulic line when you replaced the motor mounts. Mine got a bit leaky after that and I wound up replacing the slave. Might be worth checking in the clutch view hole to see how much movement you're getting from your slave cylinder push rod.

Good luck.

Did you completely remove the slave when you did the oil pan? Did you reinstall the C-clip at the flex/metal line junction point?

BTW, welcome to the board Draco. Nice to see another Chicagolander here. Dave McKenzie is a Park Ridge guy, Chris Fabri is an Evanston guy, and I'm up in Mundelein. We're due for a get together in the summer, so let me know if you'd be interested.

I didn't remove the slave, just moved the line out of the way. From reading some more threads it looks like I should replace/bleed fluid totally because I'm sure it is original!I'd definitely get together-any excuse for a nice drive is always needed! Dean
