The American Heritage Dictionary (whoever they are) states that aluminium is a variant of aluminum, so both are correct according to them. Learned something new. I guess I'll have to :

IIRC (from what I read somehwere I wasn't around when they discovered Al) It started off being called Aluminum, but got changed to Aluminium to follow the convention of other metals like Uranium, Polonium, Titanium, Strontium, Caesium, Unobtanium etc.......

Aka "Ally" on the East side of the pond. Good job that Titanum isn't in regular use by every shade tree mechanic LOL.

That car didn't burn oil - After a long unrepeatable saga it was fitted with the very last GTS engine produced by the factory, under warranty, about 6 months before the top gear review. A desperate shame that the car was totaled in a fire.

If that is your view then you will have to learn to pronounce in the swiss way. see below

From Military Review;
"After the collapse of the Berlin Wall, Switzerland mobilized its forces within 24 hours and fielded 650,000 soldiers in days. The forces were organized into 4 army corps equipped with 1,000 tanks, 1,500 armored personnel carriers, 1,300 105- and 155-millimeter artillery pieces, 1,500 antitank guns, and 2,000 antiaircraft guns. In addition, Switzerland's air forces mobilized 300 aircraft. In total, 10 percent of the population was mobilised & prepared to ardently defend Swiss territories."

I believe they also mobilised one of these; see foto

Marton
p.s. US army is under 0.5 Million soldiers
p.p.s foto is to avoid O.T. accusations......

Upon review of the video, that does look like clutch smoke. But he mentions the dogleg gearbox while he's driving it, not as a voice over later on to cover up his start. Oh well.

Clarkson mentions the dogleg shifter as very 80's. What other cars had dogleg shifters?

That's what I wanted to say but couldn't think of the example. While some of his criticisms may not be far off the mark, the behavior in this clip is not Yank-specific.

If you were in Liverpool you'd be cheered.

In Manchester you may be deep fried and eaten for lunch.

Wasn't Clarkson's sidekick involved in a serious (fatal?) crash?

Good show; especially liked their 'caravan' episode when they burnt it to the ground.
